President of the International Federation of Accountants (IFAC), Ms. Asmâa Resmouki, who was in Sri Lanka on an invitation extended to her by the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka), held high-level discussions with a top Government Minister and Officials last week.
During her stay in Colombo, Ms. Resmouki, who heads the global organisation for the accounting profession, held discussions with State Minister of Finance, Mr. Shehan Semasinghe, as well as with Secretary to the Treasury, K. M. Mahinda Siriwardana, and the Governor of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka, Dr. Nandalal Weerasinghe.
She was accompanied by the President of CA Sri Lanka, Mr. Sanjaya Bandara, Vice President Mr. Heshana Kuruppu, and acting Chief Executive Officer Ms. Lakmali Priyangika.
The meetings centred on critical matters pertaining to the financial and accounting landscape, with a focus on strengthening the profession and its role in driving economic resilience and sustainability in Sri Lanka.
Central Bank’s Deputy Governors Ms. K. M. A. N. Daulagala, Ms. T. M. J. Y. P. Fernando, and Senior Accountant Ms. Lasanthi Sirimanne also joined the meeting at the bank.
