ICSB Organized Seminar on Leadership & Human Resource Development

Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB) has organized a Seminar titled “Leadership & Human Resource Development” on Monday, 12 February 2024 at the Samson H. Chowdhury Centre, Dhaka Club Limited, Ramna, Dhaka.
Renowned Economist and former Governor of Bangladesh Bank Dr. Atiur Rahman, Chairperson, Unnayan Shamannay graced the occasion as the Chief Guest and presented the keynote paper on “Leadership & Human Resource Development”. Ms. Rupali Chowdhury, Managing Director of Berger Paints Bangladesh Limited and President of Bangladesh Association of Publicly Listed Companies (BAPLC) was the Discussant and Guest of Honour and Mr. Mohammad Iqbal Chowdhury FCS, Director & Chief Executive Officer of LafargeHolcim Bangladesh Limited was the Discussant of the Seminar.



Mr. Mohammad Asad Ullah FCS, President of the Institute, delivered a welcome speech and thanked everyone for joining the seminar. He thanked Dr. Atiur Rahman, Ms. Rupali Chowdhury and Mr. Mohammad Iqbal Chowdhury FCS for being present to share their special insights in the seminar. He said that through this kind of programme, members of the Institute have been enormously benefited with the updated knowledge. He specially thanked the keynote speaker for sharing leadership experience in the seminar which will be helpful to develop the leadership skills of a Chartered Secretary for bringing excellence to the organizations.
Mr. M Nurul Alam FCS, Senior Vice President, ICSB and Chairman of the Seminar & Conference Sub Committee chaired the session and moderated the programme. He expressed that potential leaders present in the seminar have gained special insights on how to be a leader from the keynote presentation of eminent economist and former governor of Bangladesh Bank Dr. Atiur Rahman and other successful business leaders. He emphasized that to be a successful business leader invest your time and money on training, research and development for transformation and implement automation.
The Keynote paper presenter Dr. Atiur Rahman elaborated the various aspects of “Participatory Leadership”. He mentioned that Bangladesh is on track to become a trillion-dollar economy and trustworthy leadership in Bangladesh has been mobilizing resources to enhance sustainability of the socio-economic gains. He discussed different challenges of leadership and focused that the leadership challenge is growing and becoming more important in the context of evolving organization. He also mentioned that the ICSB members are playing a vital role in establishing good governance in private and public limited companies of the country through their leadership and human resource skills.
While discussing Ms. Rupali Chowdhury mentioned the importance of business transformation and diversification through successful execution of change management. She also focused on developing technology-based company by developing company leaders and human resources. From her experience, she mentioned that when our human resources of Bangladesh get opportunities in leadership positions at different companies then they do some miracles. She also focused on encouraging future leaders and taking care of human resources.
Mr. Mohammad Iqbal Chowdhury FCS mentioned about positive transformation in policy. He said that leadership is not confined. He emphasized the importance of forming a team of good capable people. He also focused on leading the change and having good communication skills. Finally, he emphasized keeping trust in our local human resources.
The programme was attended by a large number of members of ICSB, government officials and professionals of different fields. The discussion session was followed by an interactive session, where the Chief Guest, Guest of Honour and President of ICSB answered various questions of the participants.
At the end Mr. Mohammad Shafiqul Islam Bhuiyan FCS, Council Member of ICSB concluded the session with a vote of thanks to the Chief Guest, Keynote Speaker, discussants and members of ICSB and all participants.
