Institute of Chartered Secretaries of Bangladesh (ICSB) celebrated the 14th Anniversary of Establishment Day of ICSB, 2024 on 07 June 2024 Friday at the Grand Ballroom, Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel, Dhaka.
Mr. M Nurul Alam FCS, Senior Vice President of ICSB delivered the Welcome Speech. In his speech, he highly praised the active leadership of President Mr. Mohammad Asad Ullah FCS who worked relentlessly to get the Enactment of the Chartered Secretaries Act, 2010. He fought for 11 years to achieve this milestone. He expressed his deep gratitude who worked and put in sincerest efforts to pass the CS Act. He also mentioned the importance of Chartered Secretaries programme to build a strong career.
Mr. Mohammad Asad Ullah FCS, President of the Institute in his establishment anniversary celebration speech shared his enthusiastic feelings on this great occasion. He respectfully remembered, the Honorary Fellow Members of ICSB who cooperated him to pass the CS Act in Parliament, and he specially mentioned the contributions of Mr. Moahammad Faruk Khan, MP, the then Minister of Commerce. He recalled that, all the Council Members from 2003 to 2010 were highly supportive to him. He emphasized that it is the high time to address other important pending issues for the professional development of the Chartered Secretaries to bring it to a new height and also to make ICSB as a Center of Excellence in the Chartered Secretary field.
He also underscored that, since its establishment, this is the first time, ICSB profession is recognized by an Act of Parliament i.e. the Income Tax Act, 2023. He also mentioned that ICSB won the land case of Aftabnagar, which was dismissed by the competent Court of Dhaka District Judge for which we fought for last nine years.
The anniversary programme was marked with reminiscence and accolades of the Members of the Institute with much enthusiasm. Mr. A. K. M. Mushfiqur Rahman FCS, Mr. Amirul Islam, Prof. Dr. Feroz Iqbal Faruque FCS, Mr. Md. Monowar Hossain FCS, Mr. Md. Mizanur Rahman FCS and Mr. Md Zakir Hossain shared their memories and feelings.
Senior Advocate Shah Monjurul Hoque, Legal Advisor of ICSB was honored for his outstanding contributions in the legal matters of the Institute. Mr. Mohammad Asad Ullah FCS, President of ICSB mentioned that Advocate Shah Monjurul Hoque is a proven friend of ICSB and he has been relentlessly working for the development of CS profession. Advocate Shah Monjurul Hoque expressed his feelings about ICSB and mentioned that he would work for ICSB in the upcoming days.
A good number of Fellow and Associate Members of the Institute participated in the celebration event at the Grand Ballroom of Radisson Blu Water Garden Hotel and also enjoyed a fascinating cultural show.
At the end, Mr. A. K. M. Mushfiqur Rahman FCS, Vice President of the Institute offered a Vote of Thanks to and from the Chair.
