The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) organized a seminar titled “Organisational Responses to Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in Bangladesh: Is there a role for Accounting?” to disseminate the findings of a research project. The seminar was held on Thursday, 16 January 2025 at the Ruhul Quddus Auditorium of the ICMA Bhaban in Nilkhet, Dhaka.
The event brought together distinguished speakers and participants, including the Vice Chancellor of the University of Dhaka, Professor Dr. Niaz Ahmed Khan, who graced the occasion as the Chief Guest. The keynote address was delivered by Professor Dr. Ataur Rahman Belal FCMA, from the Accounting and Sustainability Department of the University of Birmingham, UK, providing thought-provoking insights on the connection between accounting and sustainable development goals (SDGs). The seminar was chaired by ICMAB President Mr. Mahtab Uddin Ahmed FCMA.
The program began with a welcome address by Mr. Mohammed Salim FCMA, a former ICMAB President and Council Member. Professor Dr. Ataur Rahman Belal FCMA then delivered his keynote presentation, which was followed by an engaging panel discussion led by former ICMAB President and Council Member, Mr. Jamal Ahmed Choudhury FCMA. The event concluded with a vote of thanks from ICMAB Secretary Mr. S.M. Zahir Uddin Haider FCMA.
