The Institute of Cost and Management Accountants of Bangladesh (ICMAB) recognized 46 listed and non-listed organizations in 17 categories for their best corporate practices based on financial parameters and non-financial indicators.
Winners of the ICMAB Best Corporate award are recognized with gold, silver and bronze positions.
A Jury Board chaired by Prof. Dr. Mohammed Farashuddin, Former Governor of Bangladesh Bank, Mr. Anis A. Khan, President, Board of Trustees, Bangladesh Cancer Aid Trust and Mr. Muzaffar Ahmed FCMA, Executive President, Credit Rating Information and Services Ltd reviewed the approved list of winners, which was evaluated and recommended by 45 expert members of the evaluation team of the Institute.
Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed, Hon’ble Advisor, Ministry of Finance and Science & Technology, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh graced the occasion as Chief Guest and handed over the awards to the winners at a gala event held Thursday, 14 November 2024, at the Grand Ballroom of Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel, Dhaka.
Mr. Sheikh Bashir Uddin Hon’ble Commerce Advisor, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, Mr. Md. Selim Uddin, Secretary, Ministry of Commerce, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh and Mr. Md. Abdur Rahman Khan FCMA, Secretary, Internal Resources Division (IRD) & Chairman, National Board of Revenue (NBR) graced the program as Special Guests.
Mr. Arif Khan FCMA, Chairman of the Corporate Award Committee and past President of the Institute, delivered the welcome speech, while Mr. Mahtab Uddin Ahmed FCMA, President of ICMAB, delivered the presidential address.
At the end, the Secretary of the Institute, Mr. S.M. Zahir Uddin Haider FCMA offered a vote of thanks.

In the event, advisor to the Ministry of Finance and Science and Technology. Salehuddin Ahmed said, the economy has many big challenges. There are ways to fix them.
At this time, he urged businessmen to trust the government. Stating that there is a big lack of transparency and accountability, he said, many taxes and duties have been reduced. Still the price didn’t come down, that’s my regret. Egg prices are not decreasing, onion prices are not decreasing.
Pointing out that market control is not possible only by reducing customs duties, the advisor said, there are many bad systems in the supply chain. Trust us. We will help you in every way. We have cut many taxes.
Stating that the donor organizations want to help in recovering the smuggled money, he said, there is an opportunity for chartered accountants to play an important role here.
Sheikh Bashir Uddin, Advisor to the Ministry of Commerce, said in the ceremony, businessmen are important partners of the country’s economy. The government will provide all kinds of help to the traders.
Abdur Rahman Khan, chairman of the National Board of Revenue (NBR) said at the event, “We are going through a very difficult time. The opportunity to restructure the country came through the July Revolution. Businessmen have to play a big role here. Because they create employment. Private enterprises create several times more jobs than the government.
Addressing the traders, he said, we are listening to your problems. Identifying the problem. We are creating a business friendly tax environment. Removing the customs problem. I have paid income tax online. Making it hassle free. Will collect corporate tax online from next year. We want to bring automation in tax collection. If the businessmen are taxed properly, we can give a beautiful Bangladesh as a gift.
Secretary of the Ministry of Commerce, Md. Salim Uddin, said that businessmen are important partners of the country’s economy. Here Chartered Accountants have an opportunity to play an important role.

In the Private Commercial Bank category, BRAC Bank PLC. Secured Gold position, Eastern Bank PLC. secured Silver position and Dutch Bangla Bank PLC. Secured Bronze position.
In the Private Commercial Bank (Islamic Operation) category, Shahjalal Islami Bank PLC. won Gold position.

In the Pharmaceuticals Manufacturing category, Square Pharmaceuticals PLC. won the Gold position, Renata PLC. won the Silver position and Beximco Pharmaceuticals Ltd. won the Bronze position.
In the Cement Manufacturing category, LafargeHolcim Bangladesh PLC. secured the Gold position, Crown Cement PLC. secured the Silver position and Premier Cement Mills PLC. secured the Bronze position.
In the Garments-Textile manufacturing category, Matin Spinning Mills PLC. won the Gold, Paramount Textile PLC. won the Silver and Square Textiles PLC. won the Bronze position.
In the MNC Manufacturing category, Marico Bangladesh Limited won the Gold position, British American Tobacco Bangladesh PLC. won the Silver position and Reckitt Benckiser (Bangladesh) PLC. won the Bronze position.
In the Other Manufacturing category BSRM Steels Limited hold the Gold position, RAK Ceramics (Bangladesh) Limited hold the Silver position and Social Marketing Company (SMC) hold the Bronze position.
In the Power Generation category, United Power Generation & Distribution Company Ltd. got the Gold position and Doreen Power Generations and Systems Ltd. got the Bronze position.
In the Oil, Gas & Energy category, Jamuna Oil Company Limited became Gold position winner, Meghna Petroleum Limited became Silver position winner and Padma Oil Company Limited became Bronze position winner.
