As part of their visit to the Hambantota International Port (HIP) on the 29th November, Australian High Commissioner Paul Stephens and his entourage learned about the activities and operations of the port.
Other members of the delegation included Shannon Murney, 1st Secretary (Political), Trivan Annakkarage, Research & Information Officer, and Kathya Senevirathne, Public Diplomacy Officer. Christina Stephens, the High Commissioner’s wife, accompanied him.
Tissa Wickramasinghe, COO of HIPG, hosted the visiting delegates at the port’s Sky Lounge. They discussed HIP’s overall progress, ongoing and upcoming projects, port throughput and future business plans. The High Commissioner who was visiting the South of Sri Lanka for the first time, showed special interest in the port’s ongoing business and the value addition HIP brings to the table, which would be a winning factor for possible collaboration in future. The entourage toured the port following the discussion.
