Leading healthcare chain Hemas Hospitals celebrated the diverse capabilities of its workforce by staging the grand finale of its inaugural talent show “Hemas Hospitals Got Talent-2019” alongside its staff awards ceremony on 7 November at the Golden Rose hotel in Boralesgamuwa.
The evening saw 25 acts from Hemas Hospital Wattala, Hemas Hospital Thalawathugoda and the group’s laboratory chain enthral the crowd of more than 500 employees with a series of spectacular performances.
The event, organised by the HR division of Hemas Hospitals and Laboratories, drew the attendance of Group CEO Steven Enderby, Hemas Hospitals and Laboratories Chairman Murtaza Esufally, representatives of BOM-Hemas Holdings PLC and Hemas Hospitals and Laboratories Managing Director and President, Association of Private Hospitals and Nursing Homes Dr. Lakith Peiris.
Dr. Peiris conveyed his appreciation to all the event’s performers for doing their best to showcase their talent and deliver endless entertainment throughout the evening.

Hemas Hospitals Got Talent was organised to create a platform from which the individuality and creativity of all the group’s associates could shine. Originally, 75 contestants threw their hat into ring at preliminary rounds held prior to the grand finale, exhibiting their proficiency in singing, dancing and compeering as well as with various musical instruments. However, they were whittled down to the final 25 participants after a few rounds of selection by a panel of renowned judges.
In a reflection of the ceremony’s spirit of celebration and camaraderie, Dr. Peiris also took to the stage for a lively performance.
In the singing segment, the winners’ trophy went to Roshan Ranganath and Roshnika Fernando, with Thakshila Bandara finishing in the runner-up position and Nimesh Gunapala emerging second runner-up. The dancing competition saw Gayan Chathuranga and Supunika Samarakkody come out victorious while Nirmali Perera was the runner-up and the Ranamayura Team from Hemas Hospital Wattala featuring Roshnika Fernando, Nathaliya Perera, Harshani Walathara, Nirmali Perera and Nilisha Senanayake was the second runner-up.
Meanwhile, Shan Thurairathnam and Himasha Samarawickrama triumphed in the musical instrument category while Kavindu Mahipala claimed the compeering title, with Indira Perera earning the runner-up prize and Charitha Wickramasinghe securing the second runner-up position.
Furthermore, the winners of the Most Popular Talent award, who were selected through an online voting system, were Roshan Ranganath and Roshnika Fernando.
