Colombo, April 05, 2022–Nations Trust Bank PLC announced the appointment of Hemantha Gunetilleke to the position of Director/ Chief Executive Officer, with effect from April 4, 2022. Hemantha, who was Deputy Chief Executive Officer since April 2020, succeeds Priyantha Talwatte at the helm of the Bank.

Hemantha Gunetilleke is a career banker with extensive international banking experience and a proven track record in Corporate Banking, Credit, Balance Sheet Management and International Trade Finance. Hemantha joined Nations Trust Bank in 2016 and served as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer during the last two years, while being responsible for the Bank’s Consumer Banking and Commercial Banking business. Prior to joining the Bank, he held several senior roles at HSBC in Sri Lanka, Maldives and Hong Kong as well as at Standard Chartered Bank Colombo. An alumnus of Royal College, Hemantha graduated from Warwick Business School, UK in 1996 with a BSc in Management Science and holds a BSc in Financial Services from the University of Manchester, UK. He is also an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (ACIB), UK.
