Horizon Campus Malabe recently renewed its Memorandum of Understanding with HCL Technologies, a leading multinational in the field of IT and software development, which includes a more dynamic programme of higher education and employment combination offered to students who wish to enter the field of Information technology.

Horizon Campus is a Ministry of Higher Education approved and UGC Recognised, Non State higher education Institution, which has been in existence over the last decade. Horizon Campus currently functions under 6 faculties in the fields of Law, IT, Management, Technology, Science and Education with 2 new faculties in the fields of Engineering and Nursing to Commence in the year 2022. Horizon campus not only has the Degree awarding status from the MoHE, but also has international recognition from international quality assurance bodies such as APQN and INQAAHE as well as being only one of three Non State institutions to receive ACU membership. It currently operates in Malabe in the recently opened Knowledge City Malabe(KCM) premises, which provides for international standard, state of the art facilities for student education and recreation.
The TechBee programme which is part of the present MoU is the first of its kind to be offered to students who have completed and successfully passed the local OR international GCE A/L examinations. The uniqueness of this programme offered jointly by HCL Technologies and Horizon Campus stems from the fact that the selected students would be offered training/employment while they read for their selected degree in the field of Information Technology at Horizon campus Malabe. HCL Technologies and Horizon campus announced that under the TechBee programme, the entire cost of the degree programme will be covered through a scholarship scheme and the student will also be entitled to a monthly renumeration once they complete the training programme and retained on a Full time Employment cadre at HCL Technologies Sri Lanka.
The benefits of this partnership between HCL Technologies and Horizon Campus is two-fold to the nation as a whole. This includes as a first, Foreign Direct Investment in Education offered through the Techbee scholarship scheme. Secondly with the country needing approximately 20000 employees into the IT industry per year, this partnership will be able to generate a fairly large proportion of this human resources to the industry and the nation.
