In a significant milestone for Sri Lanka’s renewable energy sector, Hayleys Solar, the country’s leading solar solutions provider, has successfully completed a groundbreaking solar energy project for the Branch Office of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Wattala. The initiative, which features a 2MWh battery backup powered by a solar photovoltaic system, is the largest of its kind in Sri Lanka and ensures uninterrupted power for up to three days.

This pioneering collaboration underscores Hayleys Solar’s commitment to delivering innovative, sustainable energy solutions that redefine self-sufficiency. The project utilized a solar-panelled car park roof, maximizing solar capacity without requiring additional land use. Additionally, the design preserved the property’s original architecture while effectively addressing the net-plus energy challenge, optimizing costs, and improving efficiency.

Mr. Roshane Perera, Executive Director and CEO of Hayleys Solar, expressed pride in the initiative, stating:
“We are immensely proud to have delivered Sri Lanka’s largest solar-powered battery backup system, setting a new benchmark for renewable energy innovation. This project is a testament to Hayleys Solar’s expertise in implementing large-scale solutions that support long-term sustainability. We believe this initiative will inspire further advancements in Sri Lanka’s green energy landscape.”

Mr. Hasith Prematillake, Managing Director of Hayleys Fentons Limited, added:
“This project is a shining example of forward-thinking energy management. The Branch Office of Jehovah’s Witnesses has demonstrated remarkable commitment to sustainability, and we are proud to have provided them with a resilient, clean energy solution that others can learn from.”

Mr. David Van Eyck, National Spokesman for Jehovah’s Witnesses in Sri Lanka, also commented on the project’s impact:“This milestone underscores our commitment to sustainable practices. As we continue our extensive community services, we are pleased to do so with facilities powered by environmentally friendly systems.”

This solar energy initiative not only highlights Hayleys Solar’s leadership in renewable energy transformation but also sets a new standard for energy-efficient infrastructure in Sri Lanka. As the nation advances toward a more sustainable future, projects like this pave the way for further innovation and expansion in clean energy solutions.
