Great Place to Work® Sri Lanka hosted ‘Decoding the Future of Work in the Technology Industry,’ exploring trends and best practices in the dynamic technology sector. The event aimed to educate and engage professionals, providing a platform for sharing knowledge, strategies, and insights on thriving in the future of work.

 



 

The event kicked off with a presentation by Kshanika Ratnayaka, Director/CEO of Great Place to Work® Sri Lanka, who emphasized the importance of adapting to rapid changes in the technology sector. She highlighted best practices from leading organizations and showcased the innovative approaches of the companies recognized as the 10 Best Workplaces™ in the Technology Industry.

Keynote Speaker Indika De Zoysa, Strategic Advisor/Vice President at Huawei Technologies Lanka, on ‘Digital Transformation in the Fourth Industrial Revolution.’ He highlighted the transformative impact of digital technologies on industries, emphasizing innovation, operational efficiency, and new business models. De Zoysa stressed the importance of embracing technologies like AI, big data, and IoT to stay competitive, setting the stage for discussions on adapting and thriving in this new era. His insights provided a robust foundation for the subsequent sessions, emphasizing the need for organizations to adapt and thrive in the Fourth Industrial Revolution

An overview of the technology industry from the Great Place to Work® study followed, providing the methodology and key insights by Shaznin Kitchilan, Senior Relationship Manager at Great Place to Work® Sri Lanka.

The highlight of the event was an engaging panel discussion on “The Future of Work in the Technology Industry,” featuring distinguished representatives from SYNERGEN Health and SYNERGEN Technology Labs (Pvt) Ltd. The panel included Mel Gunawardena, Managing Partner & Co-Founder of SYNERGEN Health and SYNERGEN Technology Labs (Pvt) Ltd; Surinda Gunawardena, Co-Founder and Managing Director of SYNERGEN Health and Managing Partner of SYNERGEN Technology Labs (Pvt) Ltd; Shehan Wijayanayake, Executive Vice President, Client Services of SYNERGEN Health; and Nimshan Fernando, General Manager of SYNERGEN Health. The panel was moderated by Ruwani Alwishewa, Practice Head of Assessment Business and Client Services at· Great Place to Work® Sri Lanka.

These industry leaders shared perspectives on the future of work in the technology sector, emphasizing the importance of innovation, continuous improvement, and creative problem-solving. They highlighted the significance of employee wellbeing, promoting wellness programs, work-life balance, and supportive environments. The adoption of hybrid and remote work models were also discussed, exploring benefits, challenges, and strategies for managing remote teams, maintaining collaboration, and leveraging technology for a distributed workforce.

The event also celebrated the achievement of the 10 Best Workplaces in Technology Industry, recognized by Great Place to Work® Sri Lanka in 2024. Tailored for CXOs, Directors, Senior Managers, Managers, HR Professionals, and representatives from the technology industry, it highlighted the essence of outstanding workplaces, and underscored the efforts of organizations that have maintained the trust of their workforce. Overall, it successfully decoded the future of work in the technology industry, offering valuable insights and creating a collaborative environment for industry leaders to share and learn from one another.
