First Capital Holdings PLC Appoints Kuda Herath to Board of Directors

30th April 2024, Colombo:  First Capital Holdings PLC, a member of the Janashakthi Group, announces the appointment of Kuda Banda Herath as an Independent Non-Executive Director to the Company’s Board of Directors, effective from 29th April 2024.

 


 

Kuda Herath holds a bachelor’s degree in applied chemistry from the University of Kingston, London. He currently serves as an independent non-executive director of Central Finance Company PLC since February 16th, 2019. With a career spanning over 28 years in the fast-moving consumer goods industry in Sri Lanka, Kuda has commenced his journey at Nestle Lanka Limited, where he spent 16 years and held pivotal roles in manufacturing, sales, marketing, and global business excellence projects. Subsequently, he served as an Executive Director of A. Baur & Co. (Pvt.) Ltd. for 8 years, during which time he played a crucial role in establishing a consumer vertical for the company. In April 2020, he assumed the role of Chief Operating Officer of the Consumer Business at Sunshine Holdings PLC, with a primary focus on expanding their consumer footprint through mergers & acquisitions.

From 1996 to 2001, Kuda has contributed significantly as a member of the Environmental Cell of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, participating in governmental and non-governmental initiatives aimed at assessing and formalizing plans to mitigate adverse environmental impacts from industrial activities.

With this appointment, The Board of Directors of First Capital Holdings PLC comprises Nishan Fernando (Chairman), Manjula Mathews (Deputy Chairperson), Dilshan Wirasekara (Managing Director / Chief Executive Officer), Ramesh Schaffter, Chandana de Silva, and Kuda Banda Herath.
