Fake news in social media regarding State Minister Ajith Nivard Cabraal’s son’s wedding.

Son and Grandson

State Minister Hon Ajith Nivard Cabraal wishes to state that there is no truth whatsoever regarding the reports circulating on social media that the government is delaying the imposition of travel restrictions due to the impending marriage of his son. The Minister has explained that his two sons had got married in 2015 and 2016 and that they have no intention of marrying again.

He also states that its clear that this type of mudslinging is being carried out by an organized gang targeting those connected to the government through WhatsApp groups of the opposition.

In fact, similar mudslinging campaigns had been launched against State Minister Cabraal in the recent past by the spread of fake news on social media including stories that he sent a plane from Sri Lanka to London bring his son to Sri Lanka in March 2020, and that a non-existing daughter had created some issues at the airport on arrival, and also that the Colombo Port City Project Company belonged to his son.

The Hon. Minister urges the public not to be deceived by such organized mudslinging, targeting him and his family members.
