The Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC) and the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) successfully concluded the Cluster 2 inter-faculty competition of the ‘Varsity Battles’ 2024 recently at the Rajarata University of Sri Lanka. This event, aimed at enhancing capital market knowledge and awareness among university students, brought together talented teams from Rajarata University of Sri Lanka, University of Jaffna, University of Peradeniya, and Wayamba University of Sri Lanka.
Students from 34 teams across the four universities competed in quiz rounds testing their expertise in capital markets, general knowledge, Sri Lankan economy & business, current affairs, sports, and entertainment.
Following the success of Cluster 1 competition held at the South Eastern University of Sri Lanka (SEUSL), we are delighted to announce the winners of this engaging Cluster 2 event.
Rajarata University of Sri Lanka will be represented by two teams from the Faculty of Applied Sciences and one team from the Faculty of Management. The University of Jaffna as well as the University of Peradeniya will compete with three teams each from the Faculty of Management. Wayamba University of Sri Lanka will have two teams from the Faculty of Livestock and Fisheries and one team from the Faculty of Agriculture.
These teams will compete in the finals, along with faculty winners from other universities. The champion for Cluster 2 of the Varsity Battles 2024 inter-faculty quiz competition was the outstanding Team No. 1 from Faculty of Applied Sciences of Rajarata University of Sri Lanka, who walked away with a Rs. 100,000/- cash prize.
The top-performing teams from each university will proceed to the National Level competition, where they will compete against the best teams from the other clusters to determine the ultimate champions of the Varsity Battles 2024. The National Level competition will award cash prizes of Rs. 400,000/- for the winning team, Rs. 300,000/- for the 1st runner-up, and Rs. 200,000/- for the 2nd runner-up.
