In its pursuit of contributing to mitigating and combating climate change, Ex-Pack Corrugated Cartons PLC , one of the Sri Lanka’s leading Corrugated Cartons manufacturer and subsidiary of Aberdeen Holdings (Pvt) Ltd, was bestowed the Carbon Neutral certification by the National Cleaner Production Center (NCPC) for the third year, reaffirming its continued dedication towards championing sustainability.

Despite the nature of the industry it operates in, where achieving carbon neutrality can be quite challenging, Ex-Pack sets the benchmark with this certification, paving way for others to follow suit. Expack’s constant effort in adopting best industry practices has resulted in the reduction of carbon emissions, progressing towards its yearly Greenhouse Gas (GHG) targets covering its entire operations.

NCPC validated the GHG assessment, based on emissions from Ex-Pack’s energy and water consumption, waste management, transportation, and other connected consumptions. Co-energi, a top provider of MEP design, carbon neutral consultancy, and green building certification services, supplied the technical advice that was crucial in helping Ex-Pack obtain its certification every year.

‘‘Being recognised as carbon neutral for the third year in a row brings us great satisfaction, especially because our company is mostly industrialised. We have always worked to reduce or mitigate our impact on the environment and society at large, and we are now taking additional steps to improve our ESG pillars in order to meet our net-zero carbon objective. Therefore, this recognition has been long overdue. Ex-Pack continuously works to reduce and offset carbon emissions while using some of the industry’s finest sustainability practices and consulting with subject-matter experts,’’ said Chairman Mr Sattar Kassim.

Established in 1998, Ex-Pack Corrugated Cartons PLC is a leading player in the Corrugated Carton manufacturing industry in Sri Lanka, catering to both domestic and international markets. The company is certified with ISO 9001-2015, ISO 14001-2015, FSC COC, WRAP certifications, and has won numerous recognitions at the NCE Export Awards, CNCI Awards, Lanka Star Awards, NBE Awards, Lanka CSR Awards and Green Awards and recently they were bestowed with Silver Awards at the Presidential Environmental Awards.
