With the aim of contributing to Sri Lanka’s next-generation talent in the technology sector, ESOFT Metro Campus, Sri Lanka’s leading private higher education network, selected over 1,500 students across all parts of Sri Lanka to award them with scholarships to pursue a UK Level 3 Diploma in Information Technology (IT).
As part of its launch held very recently, 40 students received their scholarships from Hon Dr. Susil Premajayantha, Minister of Education at a special ceremony held at the BMICH on 30th August. Dr. Dayan Rajapakse, Chairman and Group MD of ESOFT Metro Campus along with the senior management and academics were also present.
The Year 10 and 11 students were selected through competitive exams held at ESOFT’s 40 branches and schools island-wide. Upon completion, students can then take the Level 4 and 5 Higher National Diplomas and go on to complete a British degree, all whilst being under the age of 20, making them a highly qualified pool of talent, whether it is to excel in the corporate world or to embark on their entrepreneurial efforts.
This initiative is designed to nurture the next generation of IT professionals allowing students to study alongside their regular school curriculum. This also aligns with the vision of the Government of Sri Lanka to create a generation of students who are well-equipped to face the future with confidence.
ESOFT also announced that students who missed the previous selection round can visit any ESOFT branch until September 30th and sit for the computer-based selection test to receive full and half scholarships based on their performance. Year 10 students from national, provincial or international schools are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
