
Eight Sri Lankan shuttlers will be in action at the SBH Singapore International Challenge 2025, which will be held from February 18 to 23 at the Singapore Badminton Hall in East Coast, Changi South, Singapore. Among them are four each of Men and Women shutters, who will compete under Men’s and Women’s Singles, Women’s Doubles and Mixed Doubles.
The four Men boys in action are Viren Nettasinghe, Dumindu Abeywickrama, Rasindu Hendehewa and Banisha Perera while the four Women featured are Ranithma Liyanage, Hasara Wijayaratne, Hasini Ambalangodage and Ipulee Jayanga, who will be the first to take the court in representing Sri Lanka.
Viren Nettasinghe, seeded third in the tournament, Dumindu Abeywickrama, seeded 16, and unseeded Rasindu Hendehewa will start off in the Men’s Singles from the Round of 64, while Ranithma Liyanage will begin her medal quest from the Round of 32 in the Women’s Singles.
Seventh ranked Hasini Ambalangodage and Hasara Wijayaratne will kick off their campaign in the Women’s Doubles from the Round of 32. Banisha Perera and Ipulee Jayanga will pair up to begin their campaign in the Mixed Doubles from the Qualification Round of 16. Roshan Nettasinghe will accompany the team as Manager and Mentor during the tour.
Over 300 shuttlers from nearly 30 countries will be in action at the six-day tournament conducted by the Singapore Badminton Federation and sanctioned by the Badminton World Federation, which offers a grand pool prize of USD 25,000. This tournament is part of the BWF International Challenge series, which serves as a crucial platform for emerging badminton talents to gain ranking points and international exposure.
