Authentic Italian restaurant in Colombo, Dolce Italia, having launched their range of home-made Italian products and flavors just over a month ago, is making great progress with the brand in the local market.

Garnering a loyal clientele and experiencing a constant demand for their products within a short period of time has led them into extending their reach in making the products available not only at their restaurant in Colombo 05, but also at key outlets around Sri Lanka.

Blazing a new trail in the market: As such, Dolce Italia made its initial foray into the retail market by partnering and signing an MOU with Good Market.

The current range at Good Market includes their frozen pizzas comprising of Pizza Margherita, Pizza Arrabbiata and Pizza Vegetarian that can be just heated and eaten within minutes. With doughs made with Kurrakkan flour, it successfully combines rich Italian flavors with local produce that is both tasty and nutritious.

Also available are their authentic Italian sauces, the perfect companion to any pasta dish. Made using the freshest ingredients solely sourced from local farmers, the range includes Fresh Pesto Sauce, Spicy Tomato Sauce with Black Olives, Fresh Vegetable Pasta Sauce, The Classic Amatriciana Pasta Sauce, Beef Bolognese Sauce, Chicken Bolognese Sauce and Traditional Pasta Sauce with Anchovies.

Kavindi Bandara, Sustainability and Communications Head at Good Market speaking of their affiliation said, “Good Market is a curated platform designed to connect with social enterprises, responsible businesses and changemakers in the new economy. The goal of the platform is to recognize and celebrate enterprises that are community-driven, self-governed and self-financed.”

“What attracted us about Dolce Italia’s range is that it is home-made Italian cuisine entirely sourced from fresh local produce that even includes their butter and mozzarella cheeses. This means it generates a regular and consistent income for the farmers from which the products are sourced The concept of supporting and partnering with local farmers and making a positive impact  in  their lives plus the fact that they use only “all natural” ingredients that are environmentally friendly and healthy for people to consume means that it  fits in well with the  criteria and standards at Good Market, of being “good for the planet, good for the country, and good for you”.

Thriving in the retail market: Buddhika Amadihini in charge of the Good Market outlet added that the products have been moving rapidly off their shelves. “We have to place orders for their pizza’s and sauces on a weekly basis as we run out of stock pretty quickly. Products in high demand are the Kurrakan pizzas that has become a hot favorite amongst customers for being healthy, light and tasty. Another is their tomato sauces. In Sri Lanka finding a tomato sauce with no additives is rare and the fact that Dolce Italia sauces are made from all natural ingredients with no artificial colors is a big attraction to customers.”

Co -owner of Dolce Italia Florence Gambarota commenting on the response received for their brands says,” our entry into the retail market has been an exciting ride for us. The response from our clients has been overwhelming and we’re thrilled to offer them the chance to have easy access to our products and to be able to experience the brand in their own homes.”

Outlining future plans with Good Market Florence stated that they have a pipeline of events showcasing their products prepared at the counter for clients to taste and experience. The first of such will take place on 19th October where Chef Manuela Prugnoli will turn out a range of authentic Ravioli dishes to be sampled. “With the success at Good Market we plan to extend our footprint towards having our products available at many key outlets around Sri Lanka including supermarkets, because focusing on customers and being where they are is what is most important to us,” noted Florence
