Directed by Md Fahad, the special Eid drama Jalao Premer Batti (Light the Lamp of Love) was created based on the script by renowned playwright Faridul Islam Rubel. The drama stars actors like Akham Hasan, Mousumi Hamid, Kazi Razu, Reshma Ahmed, Jamal Raja, Zulfiqar Chanchal, Farid Hossain, and Riki, among others.
Playwright Faridul Islam Rubel shared, “I always try to offer the audience something new. To find out whether or not the lamp of love will truly be lit, one will have to wait and see when their holidays come around.”
Director Md Fahad said, “When obstacles arise in love, it’s never pleasant, even if it happens unintentionally. In an attempt to be with his lover, Akhomo Hasan even cuts off the electricity lines in the village. For love, he does many things, but how many people’s love survives?”
The story is set in the village of Birtul, where Shah Rukh Khan, an expert electrician, is called whenever there’s an issue with electricity. Shah Rukh Khan loves a girl named Kajol from the same village. He works throughout the day, and at night, he longs to meet her. However, he fears being caught by her family if he visits her at night. He finds himself in a dilemma, unsure of what to do. As the saying goes, “Love knows no boundaries.”
The villagers, frustrated by this, decide to uncover the mystery. As night falls, they begin to keep watch. Soon, Suruj disconnects the electricity from the transformer, plunging the village into darkness. Shah Rukh Khan, like a hero, meets Kajol, but the villagers catch them in the act. A village court is held to decide their fate.
In the court, both Shah Rukh and Kajol confess everything. The villagers are moved by the depth of their love, and they decide that Shah Rukh and Kajol should marry. The drama concludes with the lighting of the lamp of love in the village court, symbolizing the culmination of their love story
