DIMO was recognised as the Healthiest Workplace in Sri Lanka for the year 2018 at the AIA Healthiest Workplace Summit. At the gala awards ceremony held recently, DIMO was acknowledged with multiple awards including The Healthiest Employer – Large Category (Winner), The Healthiest Employees – Large Category (1st Runner-up) and The Healthiest Workplace – Large Category (Winner).

DIMO as an employer believes in “Employee first” concept. Therefore, at DIMO, employees are not just identified as people who create business but as complete human beings. This allows the company to create an environment which supports the mental and physical health of its people which in turn increases employee engagement.

Focusing on physical health, DIMO provides on-site medical facilities and on-site lab facilities free of charge to all employees.  Also, the company encourages physical activity through on-site gym facility for certain workshops. Competitions such as “biggest loser“ to lose weight in a healthy way, having a wellness week to address physical and mental health aspect of employees makes health a part of DIMO’s day to day life.

On the other hand, where mental health is concerned, the company encourages their employees to seek help and has set out mechanisms to direct employees to the right channel to obtain mental wellness assistance, with high confidentiality promised.

DIMO places great significance in every aspect of its employees’ lives. Therefore, going beyond the health and wellness benefits offered to employees, the company also extends its support to the families of its employees through extensive insurance schemes covering their dependents, financial and non-financial assistance at times of significant life events including family illness, birth, marriage and in loss of a family member. Steps to address the financial health aspect of employees have also been executed through wealth management awareness programs.

At DMO it is understood that employees in good health are 3 times more productive, more engaged and motivated. Therefore the company believes in VOI (Value of Investment) and less on ROI (Return on Investment) when it comes to providing health benefits to employees. VOI is identified through increased productivity, employee retention, employee presentism and employee engagement. In addition to that, the company has been able to capture positive feedback from its year on year Employee Engagement Survey which shows increasing scores and comments of appreciation around this space. DIMO takes every step to be responsible towards its employees even beyond the accreditations obtained for social accountability and will always have this responsibility instilled as a core value.

Sri Lanka’s Healthiest Workplace by AIA Vitality is a study conducted on corporate wellness. This focuses on understanding the connection between employee’s lifestyle choices, general health, and business critical outcomes such as engagement and productivity. The study was developed by AIA Group Corporate Solutions and is delivered in partnership with RAND Europe.

For the first time, AIA introduced this corporate assessment to Sri Lanka in 2018 and 53 organizations, representing a combined workforce of 2,221 employees participated in the survey. The survey was segregated into two; an independent employee survey and organizational questionnaire on employee health & well-being.

During the month of August 2018, DIMO carried out the independent employee survey among the employees which identifies their health habits and lifestyle. Every employee that completed the online survey was provided with an instant, custom health report which showcases their current health status and provided recommendations on the areas to improve. On the other hand the organizational questionnaire captured all the human resource management practices of DIMO which promotes employee health & wellbeing.

As a result of this prestigious recognition, DIMO’s determination towards ensuring the health and well-being of its employees has taken an even wider leap. The organization has set standards high and has pledged to promote and protect the strength of its tribe.
