On Tuesday, 18 February 2025, a Press Conference was held at the Padma Hall Room of the Pan Pacific Sonargaon Hotel in Dhaka, organized by the Bangladesh Textile Mills Association (BTMA), to highlight various aspects of The Dhaka International Textile and Garment Machinery Exhibition (DTG), the largest international Textile and Garment Machinery exhibition in Bangladesh.
At the Press Conference, BTMA President Shawkat Aziz Russell presented the overall aspects of the exhibition to everyone. The BTMA President said that the main objective of the International Textile and Garment Machinery Exhibition is to increase technology-based production, introduce advanced machineries and gain knowledge about their use, attract foreign investors, increase foreign investment and create new jobs.
BTMA President Shawkat Aziz Russell answered the questions of the journalists present at the press conference on various issues. He said that due to the liquidity crisis in the banking sector, no new investors are interested in investing in the country and on the other hand, new entrepreneurs are not being created. He stressed the importance of increasing foreign investment to overcome the country’s dollar crisis and economic recession. He expressed hope that if new foreign investors invest in this country, on the one hand, it will be possible to produce new products and on the other hand, a huge employment opportunity will be created.
Finally, in response to a question, the BTMA President called on the government to quickly improve the country’s current law and order situation and to create an environment for domestic and foreign investors to produce safe, up-to-date, international standard products and create employment by withdrawing the unbridled high prices in the gas and electricity sectors.
The press conference was attended by Abdullah-Al-Mamun, Chairman of the DTG Organizing Committee and Honorable Director of BTMA, Mr. Akai Lin, Representative of Yorkers Trade and Marketing Service Co., Ltd. Taiwan, and Honorable Directors of BTMA. Also present at the press conference were Honorable Secretary General of BTMA, Brigadier General Md. Zakir Hossain and other high-ranking officials of BTMA.
