Curtin Colombo’s Open Day 2024 showcases transformative educational pathways

The renowned Sri Lankan campus of prestigious Curtin University Australia, Cutin Colombo opened its doors on June 15th, 2024, showcasing a transformative educational journey for prospective students, parents, and attendees. Visitors were able to explore the university’s world-class facilities, cutting-edge academic programs, and vibrant campus life.

 



 

The Curtin Colombo 2024 Open Day programme was multifaceted. It successfully presented the university’s state-of-the-art facilities and resources. Participants had the opportunity to understand the Campus’s comprehensive academic programmes, engage in interactions with faculty and staff, view student life and extracurricular activities, and receive guidance on the application process.

The event featured interactive exhibitions, campus tours, and a glimpse into the interesting student life, demonstrating the university’s commitment to providing a well-rounded educational experience. Attendees also had the opportunity to engage with distinguished guest speakers and participate in panel discussions.

Eminent panelists present included Prof. Mahesha Kapurubandara, the Pro Vice Chancellor of SLIIT International, (B.Sc. (Hons) – University of Colombo, MSc in Computer Science – Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand), Prof. Chandana Perera from the Faculty of Engineering at SLIIT, (PhD in Industrial engineering and Msc. in Engineering – Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand), Ms. Anjalie Gamage, the Head of Computing at Curtin Colombo, (BSc. in Information Technology – SLIIT, BSc in Applied Science – University of Sri Jayewardenapura, MSc.in Information Technology – SLIIT), Dr. Shakthi Gunwardhane,   the Head of Engineering at Curtin Colombo, (BSc. in Civil Engineering – Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand,  PhD – Asian Institute of Technology, Thailand), Dr. Hafeez Rajudin, an Examiner/Visiting Lecturer at SLIIT City Campus, (PhD in Marketing Management – Anglia Ruskin University, United Kingdom), and Dr. Yasas Jayaweera – the Dean of SLIIT City Uni, (PhD in Computer Science, Management and Science University, Malaysia)

The Open Day 2024 at Curtin Colombo not only served as a platform for prospective students to explore their academic aspirations but also as an opportunity for the university to engage with the community, including alumni, industry partners, and stakeholders.
