CRYSBRO cheers for athletes competing in World Junior Athletic/Wrestling Championship

 




 

August 17th, 2021: Sri Lanka’s leading poultry producing giant CRYSBRO is bidding the best of luck to three young athletes who are taking part in the World Junior Athletic Championship and the World Junior Wrestling Championship this week.

Being recipients of the National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka (NOCSL)-CRYSBRO Next Champ scholarship programme, this is a great recognition and feat for the management at CRYSBRO, proving the effectiveness and drive the programme offers to all scholarship holders.

Crysbro, along with the National Olympic Committee of Sri Lanka (NOCSL) launched the NOCSL-CRYSBRO Next Champ programme, to identify and support 20 talented young athletes from Sri Lanka who are capable of bringing international recognition to the country.

“Achieving what they work so hard for is a feeling that spreads optimism among everyone involved in supporting these aspiring young athletes. We are more than elated and proud to witness three of our resilient athletes take part in these international events. With that, we wish good luck to these athletes and we are confident that they will bring victory to mother Lanka,” remarked CRYSBRO Senior Manager – Sales and Marketing, Amores Sellar.

Taking part in the World Junior Athletic Championship, slated to , Tharushi Karunarathna and Ravindu Sithum Jayasundara will be representing Sri Lanka.

Originally from the town of Kandy, Tharushi is currently training at the Digana Provincial Stadium along with professional athletes who represent the national team. Her future plans are to continue athletics and higher studies, with an ambition to become a pilot.

Ravindu, from Kurunegala, studies at the Sir John Kothalawala College. He is currently training at the Welagedara stadium, and his ambition is to be a sound and qualified individual, while excelling in his athletic career.

Nethmi Ahinsa Fernando will be representing Sri Lanka at the World Junior Wrestling Championship. Nethmi brings with her a commendable streak of number-one positions from competitions in the local arena, and hopes to bring the same notion of victory from the international arena.

‘Next Olympic Hope’, an extension of the ‘Next Champ’ scholarship programme, was initiated to allow the public to support 20 young athletes selected from the NOCSL-CRYSBRO Next Champ programme, who have proven themselves through multiple wins in both the local and international arenas.
