A Math Lab set up by the Commercial Bank of Ceylon at the four-day Shilpa Sena Exhibition at the request of the Sri Lanka Accreditation Board for Conformity Assessment (SLABCC) was a major attraction for students from many age groups. Held at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall in Colombo, the exhibition featured the ‘Math Lab’ in its Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics section allowing participants to acquire hands-on experience in the interactive math games it offers and gain knowledge on mathematical principles while learning important critical thinking skills.
The Shilpa Sena Exhibition is conducted by The Ministry of Science, Technology & Research with the objective of taking the novel products and services of science, technology and innovation to the community for the use of people seeking to improve their quality of life.
Commercial Bank began propagating the Math Lab concept in 2015. This concept was founded by Mr H. A. Dharmasiri, a retired government math teacher, to stimulate and develop mathematical and analytical skills of school children. He has developed 70 interactive mathematical games and activities for the students to comprehend and master mathematical theories thereby enabling them to easily solve mathematical problems.
