ComBank upgrades ePassbook with attractive new features

ComBank-ePassBook

Enables Self Registration, Real-time Transaction Notifications and Biometric login

The Commercial Bank of Ceylon has announced several upgrades including self-registration and real time transaction notifications to its ground-breaking ComBank ePassbook mobile app, significantly increasing the flexibility of account management, user-autonomy and convenience.

The existing ‘ComBank ePassbook’ mobile application was introduced in 2016 as a pioneering product of Commercial Bank, revolutionising the concept of the “Passbook” to the customers. It was the first Digital Passbook in the Sri Lankan banking industry and remains the only mobile application of its genre to date. The application is provided free of charge and provides instant access to the customer’s accounts through a Smartphone, dispensing with the requirement of holding a physical passbook or obtaining any paid banking facility such as Online Banking or Mobile Banking for inquiry purposes of customers.

The upgrades include a self-registration option that eliminates the need for existing regular account holders to visit their respective branches to activate the app, and provides users the ability to self-add, remove, or group Current Accounts, Savings Accounts, and Credit Cards in their ComBank ePassbook mobile application.

Following the upgrade, account holders will also now receive real-time transaction notifications via the app for every transaction. Further, it enables users search for particular transactions by feeding the app details related to date, description, or the amount. Account holders will also be notified about their Credit Card dues through the app.

The new biometric login feature enables account holders use the app via face ID and fingerprint which eliminate the need for typing in the password each time.

This mobile application provides access to details of savings, current, NRFC, RFC accounts and Credit Cards on Android and iOS powered mobile devices and acts as a single repository for multiple accounts enrolled by an account holder, with the capability to view each account separately.

Users of the app may also label different accounts with preferred names or codes such as salary, petty cash, savings, entertainment and such, for easy reference.

The app which is provided to account holders free of charge enables them to track account balances and transactions of the past 30 days in real-time on their mobile phones or tabs from anywhere. The ComBank ePassbook app updates automatically whenever the user is online, the Bank said.

The first Sri Lankan Bank to be listed among the Top 1000 Banks of the World and the only Sri Lankan bank to be so listed for 10 years consecutively, Commercial Bank is celebrating its 100th anniversary this year. The Bank, which won more than 50 international and local awards in 2019, operates a network of 268 branches and 873 ATMs in Sri Lanka.

Commercial Bank’s overseas operations encompass Bangladesh, where the Bank operates 19 outlets; Myanmar, where it has a Representative Office in Yangon and a Microfinance company in Nay Pyi Taw; and the Maldives, where the Bank has a fully-fledged Tier I Bank with a majority stake.
