ComBank rewards young artists with Rs 3 mn. in prizes at 3rd ‘Arunalu Siththam’ Awards

Some of Sri Lanka’s most talented child artists and their parents recently attended the Commercial Bank of Ceylon’s highly-anticipated awards ceremony felicitating the winners of the ‘Arunalu Siththam Art Competition 2022’ which received more than 11,000 drawings and paintings from students across the country

The Bank honoured 137 young artists with cash prizes totalling Rs 3 million at this ‘Arunalu Siththam Art Competition’ awards ceremony which was followed by an Art Workshop. Close to 100 winners of the latest edition of the competition participated in this workshop which was conducted by the Panel of Judges headed by Professor Susiripala Malimboda. The day was made more memorable as the participants of the workshop were provided valuable insights on techniques that could improve their art, the Bank said.

The third ‘Arunalu Siththam Art Competition’ conducted from September 1st to October 31st 2022 was open to children between the ages of four and 16, under five categories. The competition hosted under the banner of the Bank’s popular children’s savings account ‘Arunalu’ invited child artists to upload their drawings and paintings by logging on to www.arunalusiththam.lk.

The Bank presented 25 of the youngest contestants in the Pre-School category with cash prizes of Rs 10,000 each and certificates. Another 50 participants in this category also received Merit Certificates. Furthermore, the drawings that won first place in the Primary, Post-Primary, Junior and Senior categories were awarded cash prizes of Rs 100,000 each, while the second and third placed drawings in these categories received cash prizes of Rs 75,000 and Rs 50,000 respectively. Additionally, 25 contestants each in these categories received Excellence Awards of Rs 10,000 each in cash prizes, while another 200 were awarded Merit Certificates. Commercial Bank Managing Director/CEO Mr Sanath Manatunge, Chief Operating Officer Mr S. Prabagar and representatives of the corporate management were present at the event at Waters Edge.
