Four more government hospitals around Sri Lanka have received medical equipment pivotal in the treatment of critical patients battling the coronavirus under an ongoing initiative of the Commercial Bank of Ceylon. In total 24 government hospitals and Medical Officers of Health (MOH) offices around the country have to date received essential medical equipment and personal protective gear from Commercial Bank under this programme.

The latest donations made by the Bank’s CSR Trust include a Coagulation Analyser, a Blood Gas & Electrolyte Analyser, a Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT) machine, three non-invasive ventilators, six hospital beds and four Multiparameter Monitors. The recipients of these donations are the Base Hospital Kayts, the Intensive Care Unit of the Teaching Hospital Ratnapura, and the Teaching Hospitals of Jaffna and Anuradhapura.

Besides these donations to enhance medical services offered in the country during the pandemic, Commercial Bank made a monetary donation to the National COVID-19 Healthcare and Social Security Fund set up by the government of Sri Lanka last year. A committed supporter of the healthcare sector of the country even before the pandemic, the Bank has played a key role in providing infrastructure and critical care equipment to over 50 state-owned children’s and maternity hospitals to date.

Sri Lanka’s first fully carbon neutral bank, the first Sri Lankan bank to be listed among the Top 1000 Banks of the World and the only Sri Lankan bank to be so listed for 11 years consecutively, Commercial Bank operates a network of 268 branches and 931 automated machines in Sri Lanka. The Bank’s overseas operations encompass Bangladesh, where the Bank operates 19 outlets; Myanmar, where it has a Microfinance company in Nay Pyi Taw; and the Maldives, where the Bank has a fully-fledged Tier I Bank with a majority stake.
