The Commercial Bank of Ceylon recently hosted Ms Maria Fernanda Garza, the first woman to be appointed Chairperson of the International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), at a corporate event attended by the Bank’s management and distinguished invitees .The event at the Cinnamon Grand hotel provided a platform for networking and meaningful discussions on matters of mutual interest related to international trade and commerce.
Welcoming Ms Garza, Commercial Bank Managing Director/CEO Mr Sanath Manatunge in his address covered the Commercial Bank’s long and distinguished history as a trade bank in Sri Lanka, its growth into the country’s largest private bank, the development of the Bank’s overseas banking operations, the Bank’s role and contribution to the national economy as a systemically important bank, the many innovations pioneered by the Bank over the years, the wide international recognition it has received, its digital transformation and numerous commitments to sustainability.
Mr Manatunge pointed out that the ICC has been a longstanding partner of Commercial Bank, sharing its expertise and knowledge of different markets, and being a partner in a mutually-beneficial business relationship.
He also noted that Commercial Bank is privileged to have a permanent board seat in the ICC Sri Lanka Branch, and said the Bank is grateful to the ICC for being a partner in its journey.
