ComBank empowers micro entrepreneurs in Kuliyapitiya with Financial Literacy Programme

A group of 100 farmers from the Kuliyapitiya area were the latest beneficiaries of a Financial Literacy Programme conducted by Commercial Bank of Ceylon in collaboration with Central Bank of Sri Lanka recently for micro entrepreneurs.

This was the ninth such programme conducted by the Bank for micro and agriculture-related entrepreneurs this year to enhance the financial literacy levels of this important customer segment.

The resource person for the programme was the Senior Assistant Director of the Central Bank of Sri Lanka Mr D. M. Keerthi Bandara Dunuthilake, an experienced speaker on financial literacy and business development.

The programme was held at the auditorium of the Divisional Secretariat of Kuliyapitiya and was attended by the Assistant Director Planning of the Divisional Secretariat Ms Nisansala Sandamali Jayasinghe, the Senior Manager of the Bank’s Development Credit Department Mr Mohan Fernando, the Managers of Commercial Bank’s Kuliyapitiya and Narammala branches Messrs Ruwan Panditharatna and Lasitha Rajapaksha and other officials of the Bank.

Commercial Bank has been conducting similar awareness programmes for micro entrepreneurs in different sectors of business in many areas of the country.

These programmes are supported by the Bank’s 16 Agriculture & Micro Finance Units which play a key role in helping the Bank to identify specific needs of entrepreneurs who require assistance to develop either their agriculture activities or micro businesses, and are dedicated to promote agriculture lending and Micro Finance.

Commercial Bank’s Agriculture & Micro Finance Units are located in Ratnapura, Narammala, Kandy, Anuradhapura, Kilinochchi, Bandarawela, Wellawaya, Hingurakgoda, Galewela, Achchuveli, Vavuniya, Kattankudy, Tissamaharama, Neluwa, Pottuvil and Akkaraipattu.
