The Commercial Bank of Ceylon recently donated a Continuous Renal Replacement Therapies (CRRT) machine to the Nephrology Unit of the National Hospital of Sri Lanka (NHSL) in one of the Bank’s most recent CSR projects.

A valuable addition to the Nephrology Unit, the CRRT machine will be used to manage the continuity of patients’ kidney functions while their kidneys are undergoing surgical intervention, especially in cases of injury or virus attack.

The Nephrology Department of the NSHL is the pioneering division in Nephrology, Dialysis and Kidney Transplant services in Sri Lanka. The unit provides patients with 24-hour dialysis services, a renal clinic three times a week, round-the-clock Cadaveric Kidney Transplants and weekly live Kidney Transplants. The unit also extends its services to in-patients and intensive care renal patients at the hospital’s Cardiology unit.

Pictured here are Commercial Bank Chairman Mr Dharma Dheerasinghe, the Bank’s Chief Operating Officer Mr Sanath Manatunge, NHSL Consultant Nephrologist Dr A. L. M. Nazzar and NHSL Deputy Director Dr Samiddhi Samarakoon at the presentation ceremony.
