Colombo Welcomes ARCASIA Forum 22: A Celebration of Asian Architectural Brilliance

Colombo is set to become the hub of architectural excellence as it hosts ARCASIA Forum 22, one of Asia’s most prestigious architecture and design events. Taking place at the Bandaranaike Memorial International Conference Hall (BMICH) and few other locations in Colombo from January 14th to 18th, 2025, this landmark event will bring together visionary architects, industry leaders, and innovators from across Asia to shape the future of architecture and design.




Organized by the Sri Lanka Institute of Architects (SLIA), this forum marks a significant milestone as Sri Lanka welcomes the event for the first time in a decade. With its theme, “Polymathic Excellence: Crafting Narratives, Designing Tomorrows,” ARCASIA Forum 22 aims to redefine architecture’s role in fostering resilience, sustainability, and inclusivity.

Under the leadership of Archt. Rohana Bandara Herath, President of SLIA and Convener of ARCASIA Forum 22, the event promises a transformative experience that highlights both global and local perspectives. Archt. Herath stated, “ARCASIA Forum 22 is a pivotal moment for Sri Lanka, providing us the opportunity to showcase our nation’s architectural talent while engaging in meaningful dialogue with regional and global leaders in the industry.”

Archt. Dilummini De Mel, Senior Vice President of SLIA, underscored the collaborative spirit of the forum, stating. “This is not just an event; it is a celebration of architectural creativity, innovation, and cultural exchange. We are proud to host such an esteemed gathering and to demonstrate the significant role Sri Lankan architects play in the global architectural arena.”

A Platform for Innovation and Collaboration

The forum will host delegates, participants and students from the 22 member countries of the Architects Regional Council Asia (ARCASIA). Through thought-provoking presentations, panel discussions, and networking opportunities, participants will explore critical topics such as role of architecture, climate resilience, sustainable urban design, and architectural innovation.

On January 17th and 18th, the conference will unfold, integrated with the SLIA Annual Sessions, providing a dynamic platform for global architectural luminaries, prominent regional architects, emerging local talent, students, and creative artists. The sessions will feature inspiring presentations and exchanges of innovative ideas that celebrate the diverse talents shaping the future of architecture.
