Colombo Taproabane Round Table 3 (Part of round table Sri Lanka) recently concluded its Annual General Meeting with the board members and various others from the organization.
Speaking at the event, Nilupul the  current chairman of Colombo Taprobane Round Table 3  (CTRT3) said, “We are all about empowering individuals to make a positive impact within their homes, in their workplaces and in their communities. Change starts from each one of us and through this organization, we aspire to inspire change and encourage the promotion of fellowship amongst both the young and old”.
Round Table Sri Lanka has a member and prospect base of more than 125 people and the Tablers are actively involved in activities to bring about excellence and positive change, both on an individual basis as well as within the community. As such, the Colombo Taprobane Round Table 3 is one of the most active round tables in Sri Lanka that is well known for successfully completing several projects in Sri Lanka such as community projects, professional development programmes and many more.
The members come together in order to share ideas while empowering one another and this is referred to as ‘Tabling’. The board members go through meticulous planning and organization in order to host meetings and events that focus on community service, personal development and fun and fellowship initiatives.
Elucidating further on this point, Nilupul the chairman of Colombo Taprobane Round Table 3 added, “Our motto is all about adopting, adapting and improving and this is precisely what we have been accomplishing since our inception over 25 years ago. Together, we have successfully created an international network of aspiring young men and we look forward to what our members can contribute going forward”.
During the Annual General meeting held last week, Colombo Taprobane Round Table 3 welcomed a new board while bidding adieu to the previous board, with much praise for their work during their tenure. The outgoing board was involved in many outstanding efforts. One highlight was CTRT3’s annual fund raiser the  Colombo Comedy Show which was held at the Hilton Colombo on the 6th of  September 2019 ,for the 5th consecutive year . The Colombo Comedy Show brought together some of the best stand-up comedians in Asia  to Sri Lanka, for a night of relentless laughter that kept the audience thoroughly entertained, the event was a massive sell out. Through this fundraiser, the organizers were able to establish  a cerebral palsy center in Kandy by joining hands with  the National Centre for Children with Cerebral Palsy and other Developmental Disorders (NCCCPDD) .
Another highlight of Colombo Taprobane Round Table 3 over the past year was that they were able to charter a table in the Philippines as well. This year, with the Covid-19 situation, Colombo Taprobane Round Table 3 is not taking a step back. Rather, the new board members are already setting up some promising plans that they hope to launch very soon. Speaking more on this, Nilupul said, “While appreciating and lauding the efforts of the outgoing board, we would like to welcome our new board members. We’re confident that each and every one of you will play a key role in the development of our nation and we wish you all the best in your endeavours”.
Colombo Taprobane Round Table 3 has lots of upcoming events lined up in order to support the fellow youth and the community. Dealing with a pandemic is not easy and this is why the board members have come forward with planning plenty of events and a robot to support charity and the economy. Furthermore, they are also planning a program for coding for kids in order to raise funds.
Nilupul emphasized about the organization’s commitment towards community welfare. He said, “It’s important that we take the benefits and values of tabling to every part of our country and transform Round Table into a key contributor to society. Tablers have been on the forefront in overcoming crisis situations and this time, amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, our members are working tirelessly in their respective fields in order to motivate, inspire, adapt and improve while providing support services to the nation, particularly during these times of crisis”.
