The Institute of Certified Management Accountants (ICMA) Australia recently concluded a groundbreaking CMA Qualifying Programme, showcasing its commitment to shaping the future of corporate leadership in the country.
A qualified accountant, finance degree-holder or holder of a Masters specialising in finance can become a Certified Management Accountant (Australia) by completing the seven-day intensive master’s level modules and the assessments covering Strategic Cost Management and Strategic Business Analysis.
This year’s seven-day rigorous workshop, held from September 28 to October 4, 2024, at the Galle Face Hotel in Colombo, was attended by 75 high-calibre professionals from nine countries. The programme covered cutting-edge topics integrating the latest developments in big data, AI, IoT, and blockchain technologies.
It is designed to equip finance and industry leaders with the tools they need to navigate the rapidly evolving business landscape. Participants included senior finance professionals, industry managers, functional heads, managers, and central bankers, highlighting the programme’s relevance across various sectors of the economy.
CEO of ICMA Australia and a world-renowned academic, led the workshop as main facilitator alongside Kapila Dodamgoda, Regional Director for ICMA in Sri Lanka who served as the co-facilitator.
The workshop’s curriculum was divided into two main segments: Strategic Cost Management and Strategic Business Analysis. Each segment comprised twelve subject modules, enriched with simulation games, case studies, videos, and group-based analyses. The programme’s structure allowed for in-depth exploration of crucial topics such as management control systems, lean manufacturing, activity-based costing, strategic marketing analysis, risk management, corporate governance and sustainability.
Kapila Dodamgoda said, “As we celebrate our silver jubilee this year, CMA Australia has over the decades, played a pivotal role in shaping the business environment of Sri Lanka. Many of our CMA Australia alumni now lead some of the largest corporations in the country.
