Mr Chitral Jayawarna, Deputy Chief Manager, Communication and Public Relations in Sri Lanka Ports Authority, is currently visiting the United States of America as the country representative at the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP) initiated by the State Department. He was selected by the US embassy in Colombo.
Chitral Jayawarna is a professional marketer and a social activist whose enlightened objective is to establish a just and egalitarian society. He has worked in several organizations in the capacity of Chairman, Secretary and Executive Committee Member. Chitral joined the Sri Lanka Ports Authority (SLPA) in 2008 as a Senior Manager in the Marketing and Business Development Division. Then he was promoted to a Deputy Chief Manager at Communication & Public Relation. He was a youngest Non-Executive Independent Director of Merchant bank of Sri Lanka.
Chitral Jayawarna graduated in 2003 majoring in Economics with International Relations and Demography in Colombo University. Then he completed his post-graduate studies in Business Management in the same university in 2011.
In 1997 he completed the Diploma in International Relations at Bandaranaike Centre for International Relations. He is a Member of Charted Institute of Marketing (UK) and Member of Charted Institute of Public Relations (MCIPR).
He has represented Sri Lanka for various training programmes on Port Management, Logistics and Green Fight Logistics in various countries.
Fascinating in writing Chitral is a regular columnist in several newspapers as well as a panellist in several talk shows in electronic media. He is a Secretary of Lions Club of PitaKotte 306C1 and he is former Vice President Sarasavi Mithuro organization in University of Colombo.

Through short-term visits to the United States, current and emerging foreign leaders in a variety of fields experience this country firsthand and cultivate lasting relationships with their American counterparts. Professional meetings reflect the participants’ professional interests and support the foreign policy goals of the United States.
Each year nearly 5,000 International Visitors come to the U.S. on the International Visitor Leadership Program (IVLP). More than 200,000 International Visitors have engaged with Americans through the IVLP, including more than 500 current or former Chiefs of State or Heads of Government.
