Ceylinco Life voted Sri Lanka’s most popular life insurer for 19th year

Crowned ‘Peoples Life Insurance Service Provider of the Year’ at 2025 SLIM Kantar Peoples Awards

Ceylinco Life has been voted the ‘Peoples Life Insurance Service Provider of the Year’ for a record 19th consecutive year to win the coveted SLIM Kantar Peoples Award in its category and secure the ultimate testament to consumer-driven recognition in Sri Lanka.
 



 
Presented by the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM) in association with Kantar, the world’s leading marketing data and analytics company, the Peoples Awards are based on consumer preferences as determined by the results of a survey, making it an accurate reflection of popular sentiment. Ceylinco Life stands out as the only company in Sri Lanka’s life insurance sector to win this award every year since the inception of the awards programme.

The SLIM Kantar Peoples Award was presented to Ceylinco Life two weeks after the announcement of the Company’s financial results for 2024, which reaffirmed its market leadership in the life insurance sector for the 21st successive year.

Commenting on the Company’s dominance at the Peoples Awards, Ceylinco Life Deputy Chief Operating Officer Mr Samitha Hemachandra said: “Our success pivots on public trust, which can be fickle. Everything we do is intended to earn and retain trust. Winning the Peoples Award for 19 years consecutively is an extraordinary feat that cannot be achieved without a genuine and unwavering adherence to core values and best practices. The purpose of the Peoples Awards is to reward and recognise brands and personalities that are closest to the hearts of the Sri Lankan people. A hallmark awards event of the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing, the awards programme is based solely on people’s votes, through country-wide research conducted by Kantar. The awards honour the country’s top brands across multiple sectors each year, with respondents to the survey asked to mention their favourite brands and personalities across various categories.

The 2025 SLIM Peoples Awards presentation was the ninth year that the awards in the insurance sector were presented separately to Life and General Insurance companies, following the segregation of these segments of insurance by law in 2015. In the 10 years that preceded the segregation, Ceylinco Insurance PLC comprising of Ceylinco Life and Ceylinco General Insurance, won the award every year.

Ceylinco Life ended 2024 with gross written premium income of Rs 37.14 billion and investment and other income of Rs 28.4 billion, recording consolidated income of Rs 65.54 billion. Policyholders received a record Rs 25 billion in net claims and benefits in 2024, and the company’s Life’s Fund grew to Rs 180.89 billion at the end of the year. Total assets grew to Rs 251.4 billion while the Company’s investment portfolio increased to Rs 222.5 billion as at 31st December 2024.

Adjudged Sri Lanka’s Brand of the Year in 2022 and 2023, Ceylinco Life was also named one of the 10 Most Admired Companies in Sri Lanka in 2023 by the International Chamber of Commerce Sri Lanka (ICCSL) and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and was ranked the ‘Most Valuable Insurance Brand in Sri Lanka’ across both life and general insurance categories in 2023 by Brand Finance.
