Sri Lanka’s leading life insurer Ceylinco Life has announced an allocation of Rs 22.4 million to be paid out as scholarships to high achieving young Sri Lankans in 2025, continuing a flagship rewards programme the company launched more than two decades ago.

With this 24th edition of the Ceylinco Life Pranama Scholarships programme, the company’s investment in motivating academic and extracurricular excellence will reach Rs 240 million, while the number of beneficiary students will total 3,498, the company said.

This year’s Pranama scholarships, to be presented in September, will reward 160 students in four categories – those who excelled at the Year 5 scholarship examination, the GCE Ordinary Level, the GCE Advanced Level, and young Sri Lankans that achieved national or international recognition in sports, art, drama, invention or the creative fields.

Open to the children of more than a million Ceylinco Life policyholders in every district of the country, the Pranama Scholarships programme is intended to motivate and groom future leaders in areas such as medicine, engineering, law and the arts, while assisting parents with the burden of the ever-escalating costs of education.

For the purpose of selecting recipients of this year’s scholarships, Ceylinco Life has commenced accepting applications from those eligible. These would be students that excelled at the 2024 Year 5 scholarship examination, the 2023 GCE O/L and A/L, and those that won recognition in extracurricular endeavors in 2023-24. The closing date for applications is 30th April 2025.

A child that achieved the first place among the children of Ceylinco Life policyholders in each district at the Year 5 scholarship exam will receive a scholarship worth Rs 240,000 over five years. Similarly, children that achieved the first place in each district at the GCE O/L will each receive a scholarship worth Rs 168,000 over two years, while four children who achieve first place in each stream among the children of Ceylinco Life policyholders in each district at the GCE A/L will receive a scholarship worth Rs 120,000 as a one-time payment.

In order to recognise excellence in extracurricular activities, Ceylinco Life will also present another ten students who have made noteworthy progress in sports, art, drama, invention or the creative fields with merit awards, each to the value of Rs 50,000.

Adjudged Sri Lanka’s Brand of the Year in 2022 and 2023, Ceylinco Life was also named one of the 10 Most Admired Companies in Sri Lanka in 2023 by the International Chamber of Commerce Sri Lanka (ICCSL) and the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) and was ranked the ‘Most Valuable Insurance Brand in Sri Lanka’ across both life and general insurance categories in 2023 by Brand Finance.

Ceylinco Life has been the country’s leading life insurer for 20 of the 37 years it has been in existence and provides innovative life insurance solutions which offer protection while de-risking the goals and ambitions of the Company’s policyholders.
