Citizens Development Business Finance PLC (CDB) surpassed LKR 50 Mn in its National Pandemic Response effort which included contributions to the national healthcare system and support of communities impacted during the lockdown. The most recent response was the presentation of five Oxygen Concentrators to the Ministry of Health, which were handed over to the Director General of Health Services Dr Asela Gunawardena by the Directors of CDB.  The value of the equipment amounted to LKR 12.5 Mn.  These ventilators will be distributed to the Methsirisevana Covid Treatment Centre in Anuradhapura, District General Hospital Vavuniya, Welikanda Covid Treatment Center Polonnaruwa and the Base Hospitals in Embilipitiya and Tangalle.

Since the onset of the pandemic, CDB’s contributions towards the National Pandemic Response has included LKR 10 Mn to the National Operations Center for Prevention of Covid 19 Outbreak (NOCPCO) to construct a Quarantine Center.  In addition, CDB presented medical equipment including HDU beds, multi-parameters and a wall oxygen piping system worth LKR 8.8Mn to the Intermediate Care Center at the Boossa Naval Base, LKR 10.2 Mn of medical equipment to the Gampaha District General Hospital including an ICU monitor and ventilator and LKR 4.1Mn in medical equipment including HDU beds and wall oxygen piping systems to the District Hospital Kandana and Colombo East Base Hospital Mulleriyawa.

With volunteerism ingrained in the hearts and minds of Team CDB, it was heartening to have the entire team step up to assist those most impacted during lockdown.  The team engaged with deserving families around the country to distribute 1,500 packs of dry rations worth LKR 8Mn through the CDB network of 71 branches.

At a time when the entire nation was striving to overcome the protracted impacts of the pandemic, CDB delved into the very heart of the challenges to become a proactive partner to the nation’s response – from supporting frontline medical services to presenting much needed medical equipment and investing in infrastructure.

CDB’s inclusive sustainability agenda integrates sustainability values, principles and best practices into the way its business is conducted, being an integral partner whenever the nation needs support.  CDB is committed to continuing being a partner in that journey, believing strongly that united the nation can conquer and therefore, together, it can emerge stronger, brighter and better.
