The much-anticipated National Level Competition of the Capital Market Masters Quiz successfully concluded recently at the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE) trading floor, World Trade Centre, Colombo. This event marked the pinnacle of a journey that began in 2023, following the launch of 100 Capital Market Clubs in schools across Sri Lanka.

Organized by the Securities and Exchange Commission of Sri Lanka (SEC) and the Colombo Stock Exchange (CSE), in collaboration with the Ministry of Education, the Capital Market Masters Quiz showcased the financial knowledge and talent of students from schools across the country. The top ten schools that emerged as winners from provincial-level competitions faced off in a highly competitive and intellectually engaging final round.

The students were tested on their knowledge across various subjects, including financial markets, economics, current affairs, IT, innovation, and general knowledge. After an intense series of rounds, Royal College Colombo claimed the title of Capital Market Masters National Champion, earning a cash prize of Rs. 100,000. Ananda College Colombo secured the 1st runner-up spot, while R/ Sivali Central College finished as the 2nd runner-up, winning Rs. 75,000 and Rs. 50,000 in cash prizes, respectively.

In addition to the quiz, students participated in a special awareness session, where presentations delivered by industry experts further enriched their understanding of the stock market and the financial sector. This session not only complemented the quiz but also aligned with the overall goal of enhancing financial literacy among Sri Lanka’s youth.

The Capital Market Masters Quiz would not have been possible without the support of our key sponsors. Bartleet Religare Securities (Pvt) Ltd and First Capital Holdings PLC played an invaluable role as Platinum Sponsors, while Maliban Milk (Pvt) Ltd served as the Nutrition Partner. The three winning teams were able to walk home with DSI footwear vouchers, courtesy of the Footwear Partner, D. Samson & Sons (Pvt) Ltd, while Luminex PLC, as the Stationery Partner, generously provided stationery bundles to all participating students. Their collective support was instrumental in the success of the event, ensuring a memorable experience for all participants. Additionally, the students and teachers enjoyed a special lunch at the Port City Gallery.

As the curtains fall on this year’s Capital Market Masters Quiz, the SEC, CSE, and their partners celebrate the achievements of all participating students, reaffirming their commitment to fostering a financially literate and empowered future generation.
