In a world characterised by rapid change and constant innovation, the concept of exploring beyond boundaries has become increasingly relevant. To enable Sri Lanka to catch up with the rest of the world and to help overcome the many obstacles since the economic crisis, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) took the lead to unlock untapped potential and revolutionise the way we think and act by organising yet another regional conference in Galle on the theme “Exploring Beyond Boundaries.”

Over 250 local business owners, entrepreneurs, and professionals from the Southern region were treated to an inspiring day of thought-leadership at the Jetwing Lighthouse, Galle, apart from being pushed to go beyond their boundaries and help not just their own businesses and region, but also be an important catalyst in contributing to the economy of Sri Lanka.

Mr. Chevaan Daniel, Group Director of Capital Maharaja Group, graced the event as the Chief Guest, while the keynote was delivered by Ms. Bernadine Jayasinghe, Managing Director of the Institute of Essential Studies.

By delving into uncharted territories and embracing new perspectives, the regional conference, which was the second such event in Galle by CA Sri Lanka, inspired participants to challenge the status quo, think outside the box, and defy traditional norms.

Among the special guests were Mr. Sanjaya Bandara, President of CA Sri Lanka; Mr. Heshana Kuruppu, Vice President of CA Sri Lanka; Mr. Ranel T. Wijesinha, Past President of CA Sri Lanka; Mr. Saman Srilal, Chairman of the Regional Conference Committee; Ms. Jani Ganeshan, Chairperson of the Galle Conference Committee; Ms. Nishani Perera, Chairperson of the Galle Conference Technical Committee; and Mr. Dhammika Lokuge, Alternate Chair of the Galle Conference Committee.

The conference also featured three insightful sessions with a diverse portfolio of top subject experts. The first session focused in-depth on the current and future economic and tax environment and its implications for businesses, while the second session identified the importance of information technology, artificial intelligence, and people management to help businesses go beyond boundaries. With small and medium-sized businesses being the main contributor to the Sri Lankan economy, the third and final session focused on the critical need to support start-ups and entrepreneurs in terms of helping them in areas such as succession planning and financial discipline to help them go beyond boundaries.
