The Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) will power the Interact District 3220 Conference 2019 as the official educational partner.

The conference on 30th March 2019 at Temple Trees, Colombo will attract more than 800 participants ranging from Interactors to Rotarians between the ages of 16 to 20 years from Colombo, Kandy, Galle and Jaffna.

CA Sri Lanka President Mr. Jagath Perera presented the sponsorship cheque to Project Chairperson Interact District Conference Ms. Sajani Devapura in the presence of Chairman of the CA Sri Lanka Media & Communication Committee Mr. Laknath Peiris and other office bearers of the club.

Speaking at the occasion, Mr. Perera said that CA Sri Lanka has always supported important initiatives by the student community and this sponsorship too was part of a larger objective in helping impart the importance of a recognised qualification among the future leaders of the country. “CA Sri Lanka has always attracted some of the best talents from commerce as well as math and science streams to follow the benchmark qualification in Chartered Accounting, and they have gone onto acquire unique skills with the ability to steer any business with success,” he said.

Mr. Perera noted that unlike in the past, Chartered Accountants were no longer limited to the role of a number cruncher, but instead represented top corporates at board level, while a significant percentage of CA Sri Lanka’s members today held top leadership positions such as chairman, partner, managing director, CEOs, CFOs among others.

Mr. Perera also highlighted that an important aspect of the qualifications offered by CA Si Lanka was the fact that every student that exited the Institute after obtaining the qualification were guaranteed employability.

Apart from CA Sri Lanka’s benchmark qualification in Chartered Accounting, the Institute also offers two exit routes which are the Certified Senior Business Accountant (CSBA) and Certified Business Accountant (CBA), two mid-level qualifications recognised by both the public as well as private sectors.

As per the National Academic Recognition Information Centre (NARIC) based in the United Kingdom, CA Sri Lanka’s Chartered Accounting has been compared to a Master’s Degree standard while the CSBA qualification was compared to a Bachelor Degree standard, and the CBA was comparable to a Certificate of Higher Education standard.
