With the economic crisis reverberating into a medical crisis which has resulted in a severe shortage of essential drugs and other vital consumables across hospitals, the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka (CA Sri Lanka) in its standing as the National Body of Accountants launched a timely CSR project titled “Help a Little – Save a Life” to raise funds to purchase vital laboratory items for the Lady Ridgeway Hospital.

The funds to purchase the requirements were raised through a fundraiser initiated by CA Sri Lanka with many members in the country and overseas coming forward to contribute towards the worthy cause, resulting in CA Sri Lanka raising Rs. 3 million for the project.

The essential laboratory items were handed over by CA Sri Lanka President Mr. Sanjaya Bandara to Dr. G. Wijesuriya, Director Lady Ridgeway Hospital (LRH). Among the others present during the handing over ceremony were Mr. Tishan Subasinghe, Member of Council and Chairman of the Member Relations Committee, Mr. Saman Srilal, Member of Council and Chairman of the CSR Project Sub-Committee, Ms. Dulani Fernando, Chief Executive Officer of CA Sri Lanka; and several other members and staff of the Institute, as well as Dr. Santhusa Senapathi, Deputy Director LRH and Dr. Savithri Dharmarmarathne.
