Budding Local Eco-Friendly Inventors Recognized at Sampath Green Inventor Awards Ceremony

Niroshan from the Sabaragamuwa University of Sri Lanka emerged as the winner of Sampath Green Inventor 2017, walking away with the grand trophy and a cash prize of Rs.200,000.

Teams from University of Jaffna and SLIIT bagged the 2nd and 3rd prizes, taking home trophies and cash prizes of Rs.150,000 and Rs.100,000, respectively. The top 3 prize winners’ universities too were recognized at the event.

78 teams from 17 state and private universities took part in this national competition for eco-friendly inventions organized by Sampath Bank. 25 teams were shortlisted as finalists after review and offered comprehensive training on developing products and solutions within the parameters of the contest by the Bank.

The annual competition serves as a great platform for budding local inventors to showcase their talent in the area of environmental protection and conservation. Sampath Bank seeks to recognize and nurture such talented youngsters involved in the development of sustainable eco-friendly solutions.
