
The Closing Ceremony of the three-day ‘Science and Industrial Technology Fair-2025’ organized by the Bangladesh Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (BCSIR) from 24-26 February was held on the afternoon of Wednesday, 26 February at the BCSIR Campus, Dhanmondi, Dhaka.
Dr. Salehuddin Ahmed, Adviser, Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Science and Technology, Government of the People’s Republic of Bangladesh, was chief guest at the closing ceremony.
Md. Delwar Hossain, Additional Secretary, Ministry of Science and Technology and Kazi Anwar Hossain, Member (Development), BCSIR, were present as special guests at the closing ceremony. The ceremony was presided over by BCSIR Chairman Dr. Samina Ahmed.
Honorable members of the council, directors of various units in Dhaka, research coordinators, supervising engineers, secretary of BCSIR, scientists, engineers, officers and employees from all were also present at the closing ceremony.
Also present were guests from various institutions, teachers, students, innovators participating in the fair, and journalists from print and electronic media.
In the presidential address, BCSIR Chairman Dr. Samina Ahmed said to the young scientists, ‘You will lead the nation-building of the future. BCSIR conducts various activities to create capable leadership for nation-building and to build a scientifically minded nation through scientific practice. Students from different schools and colleges across the country have participated with more than 75 projects. As a result, our efforts to reach out to the general public across the country have been largely successful. The projects of the young scientists have captivated us with the thoughts and ideas of their latent minds. The spontaneous participation of the students in the quiz competition organized in 3 groups was incredible, which has increased their attraction towards science education.
The distribution of awards and certificates to the winning contestants of the three-day “BCSIR Science and Industrial Technology Fair-2025” for school and college students and self-taught scientists in the development of science and industry and technology has concluded.
Engineering University School and College, Dhaka secured the first position in the group from class VI to VIII. 2nd Shimul Memorial North South School & College-Rajshahi, 3rd Birshreshtha Munshi Abdur Rouf Public College – Dhaka.
Shimul Memorial North South School & College, Rajshahi secured the first position in the 9th-10th grade group. 2nd Savar Cantonment Public School & College- Savar, , 3rd St. Gregory’s High School and College.
St. Joseph Higher Secondary School (College Branch) stood first in Group C from 11th to 12th. 2nd Shaheed AHM Kamruzzaman Government Degree College-Rajshahi, 3rd Birshreshtha Nur Mohammad Public College, Dhaka.
Joypurhat Creative in Technology and Robotics Lab won the first place in the club level. Bangladesh Oceanography Research Institute, Cox’s Bazar won the Science-based Government Organizations Group, Bangla Fire Technology won the lease-based receiver group award.
Organized over 3 days (February 24-26, 2025), the Mini Science Fair showcased 66 science projects from various groups, with around 200 young scientists participating. In addition, several institutions and organizations of the Ministry of Science and Technology showcased their activities to the visitors present at the fair.
BCSIR Science and Industry Technology Fair-2025 Information:
A-Group (6th to 8th grade) – Total projects 21 and educational institutions – 19, participants – 76 people: B-Group (9th to 10th grade) – Total projects 15 and educational institutions – 15, participants – 60 people: C-Group (11th to 12th grade) – Total projects 18 and educational institutions – 17, participants – 58 people: D-Group (self-taught scientists) – Total projects 2 and participants – 8 people.
In addition, there are 7 stalls of businesses adopting BCSIR’s methods/processes. There are 4 stalls of other government institutions of the Ministry of Science and Industry Technology.
