Shuttlers above the age of 70 will be seen in action for the first time in their own age classes at this year’sSummer Season Open Badminton Championship in NuwaraEliya, the organisers of the event have announced.
The popular tournament which will be held at the NuwaraEliya Municipal Indoor Stadium is organised by the Central Province Badminton Association under the sponsorship of Sri Lanka Badminton from April 22 to 30.
Players above 70 will battle for a total prize bag of Rs.100,000 and they will be offered special discounts of 50% for accommodation facilities among other privileges, organisers announced.
Apart from this veteran age class, the tournament will also see events conducted under a number of junior and senior age groups apart from the Open classes.
