Axiata Digital Labs (ADL), Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison (Indosat or IOH), XL Axiata, and Amazon Web Services (AWS) proudly introduce the SinergiAPI Portal, the first API portal in Indonesia based upon GSMA’s Open Gateway initiative which aims to empower developers and enterprises by offering universal access to network operator APIs. GSMA Open Gateway APIs are defined, developed, and published in CAMARA, the open-source project driven by the Linux Foundation.

In conjunction with the introduction of the API portal, the SinergiAPI Early Adopter Event was recently held in Jakarta, to enable developers and enterprises in Indonesia to register their interest, integrate and test their applications and services in a controlled environment. This event marks a significant milestone in providing developers and enterprises in Indonesia with universal access to a comprehensive set of telco APIs from Indosat and XL Axiata through the SinergiAPI Portal. With SinergiAPI Portal, developers, and enterprises will be able to consume APIs and access network resources seamlessly; enrich and differentiate their innovations in generating new revenue streams and expand market reach locally and globally.

The SinergiAPI Portal currently offers developers and enterprises access to three Open Gateway APIs from Indosat and XL Axiata: SIM Swap, Device Location Verification, and Carrier Billing Check-Out. The SIM Swap API plays a pivotal role in preventing identity theft and fraud through real-time detection and prevention of SIM card-related incidents. The Device Location Verification API empowers organizations to verify the location of user devices in offering personalized services and aiding efforts towards fraud prevention, while the Carrier Billing Check-Out API enables subscribers to conveniently charge online purchases to their phone balance. An additional set of APIs are planned for release in 2024 based upon feedback from the Early Adopter Event and the needs of developers and enterprises across Indonesia.

The SinergiAPI Portal is powered by ADL’s Axonect Enterprise Marketplace solution built upon the Axonect Product Suite running on AWS. Aligned with TM Forum Open Digital Architecture (ODA), Axonect is a robust, full-stack digital transformation product suite that supports both CAMARA and TM Forum Open APIs. Axonect Enterprise Marketplace is a highly customizable, one-stop solution that enables telcos and enterprises to build a unique B2B2B and B2B2C partner ecosystem on top of their core domain capabilities. Using Amazon Relational Database Services for Postgres, the SinergiAPI portal can efficiently scale its database infrastructure to support its growing digital products and services. The fully managed database service provides easy setup, management, and maintenance of Postgres databases and benefits from the flexibility and availability of the cloud.

Sanjeev Rawat, Chief Digital Officer of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, said “Today marked the strategic co-development involving Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison, XL Axiata, ADL, and AWS. The primary focus was to highlight the remarkable achievements of the teams in the past three months, culminating in the creation of SinergiAPI Portal. The initiative and collaboration in SinergiAPI are aligned with Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison’s larger purpose of connecting and empowering every Indonesian by accelerating the nation’s digital transformation. With the spirit of gotong royong and co-creation, we are vigorously looking forward to more partnerships to accelerate Indonesia’s digitalization.”

He further added that the SinergiAPI Portal provides a comprehensive ecosystem for managing, distributing, and consuming APIs. The Gateway facilitates the technical aspects of API delivery and management, while the Portal serves as a platform for discovery, collaboration, and commercial transactions related to APIs.

Director & Chief Enterprise Business & Corporate Affair Officer XL Axiata, Yessie D. Yosetya, said, “Collaborating to introduce this SinergiAPI Portal is a momentum for us to support the government in accelerating and enhancing the development of the digital economy in the community. We believe this will provide convenience for developers and digital business players in Indonesia to be more productive in realizing business innovations and creations that can have a positive impact on the development of their businesses or Indonesian society as a whole.”

Thushera Kawdawatta, CEO of Axiata Digital Labs, expressed his enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “The SinergiAPI Portal, built on the Axonect Enterprise Marketplace solution, embodies the collaborative spirit of Axiata Digital Labs, Indosat, XL Axiata, and AWS. By empowering developers and organizations with access to essential network APIs, we are enabling collaboration to drive synergies, fuel innovation, and elevate user experiences across Indonesia.”

The SinergiAPI Early Adopter Event, hosted in Jakarta, drew participation from over 40 enterprise customers of Indosat, XL Axiata, and AWS. The event provided attendees with a comprehensive overview of SinergiAPI Portal, insights into the developer onboarding process, and discussions on various use cases for the APIs.
