The Award Night and Closing Ceremony of the Gulshan Club Olympiad 2024 was held on 28th November 2024 Thursday at the Tennis Court of Gulshan Club Limited, Dhaka.

The event was graced by the presence of Mr. Anowar Rashid, President of Gulshan Club, alongside distinguished guests Mr. Abdul Hai Sarker, Chairman, Mr. Sheikh Mohammad Maroof, Managing Director of Dhaka Bank and Dr. Wahiduzzaman (Tamal) General Secretary of Gulshan Youth Club.

 



 

Mr. Minhaz Kamal Khan, Chairman of the Olympiad Organizing Committee, delivered a captivating presentation highlighting the grandeur of this year’s Olympiad. Over 800 competitors from 16 prestigious clubs formed 18 teams to compete across 14 diverse sporting disciplines. He expressed heartfelt gratitude to the Lead Coordinator, Convenors, Co-Convenors, venue partner Gulshan Youth Club, the Sponsors, and the Media Partners for their invaluable support in making the event a resounding success.

Prominent attendees included Mr. Mahbubul Haque Sufyani, Vice Chairman of the Organizing Committee and Director in Charge of Sports; Mr. Mehadi Hasan, Vice President of the venue partner Gulshan Youth Club; and esteemed advisors Mr. Safius Sami Alamgir (Director Admin, GCL), Ms. Mehjabeen Bhuiyan (Director Finance, GCL), and Mr. Shafiqul Islam Sarker. Members of the Gulshan Club Board of Directors were also present to celebrate the occasion.

The medal tally for the Gulshan Club Olympiad 2024 saw Gulshan Club leading with a remarkable haul of 8 Gold and 9 Silver medals, totaling 17 medals. Cadet College Club followed in second place with 5 Gold and 3 Silver medals, making a total of 8. Gulshan Youth Club and Narayanganj Club each secured 3 Gold and 3 Silver medals, achieving a total of 6 medals each. Chittagong Club earned 3 Gold and 2 Silver medals, bringing their tally to 5 medals, while Dhaka Club claimed 3 Gold medals. Dhaka Boat Club earned 1 Gold and 2 Silver medals, totaling 3 medals. Gregorian Alumni Club secured 1 Gold and 1 Silver medal, achieving 2 medals. Baridhara Enclave Club earned 1 Gold medal, while Baridhara Cosmopolitan Club secured 2 Silver medals. Lastly, Uttara Club and Sylhet Club each earned 1 Silver medal.

During the event, all champion and runners-up teams received their trophies in recognition of their achievements. Additionally, the sponsors and media partners were presented with crests as a token of appreciation for their invaluable contributions.

This year’s Olympiad witnessed participation from The American Club (AEEA), All Community Club Limited, Banani Club Limited, Baridhara Cosmopolitan Club Limited, Baridhara Diplomatic Enclave Club, Cadet College Club Limited, Chittagong Club Limited, Dhaka Boat Club Limited, Dhaka Club Limited, Gulshan Club Limited, Gulshan Youth Club Limited, Gregorian Alumni Club Limited, Khulna Club Limited, Narayanganj Club Limited, Sylhet Club Limited, and Uttara Club Limited.

The 14 sporting disciplines included Tennis, Cricket, Football, Squash, Badminton, Swimming, Snooker, Pool, Golf, Table Tennis, Basketball, Chess, Arm Wrestling, and Quiz.

This Olympiad was powered by Dhaka Bank Limited, with sponsorship from Prime Bank, Butterfly Bangladesh, and Turaag Active. Brüvana served as the hydration partner, and York Hospital as the health partner. Official electronic media partners included Jamuna TV, Channel-i, Ananda TV, and T-Sports.

The Closing Ceremony concluded with a grand dinner and a spectacular musical performance by NEMESIS. A celebratory cultural evening and the Grand Prize Distribution Ceremony rounded off the event, marking the culmination of a vibrant and spirited Olympiad.
