Asiri Academy of Health Sciences inaugurates modern Main Campus in Colombo

The Asiri Academy of Health Sciences (AAHS), a leading institution in healthcare education, has ceremonially inaugurated its new main campus in Ward Place, Colombo 7. The important achievement highlights the official commencement of operations at the modern facility, reinforcing Asiri Health’s commitment to skill-building and supporting healthcare professionals in Sri Lanka.
 



 
With the global healthcare sector facing increasing demands, the expansion of AAHS comes at a crucial time. According to the World Health Organization, there is a projected shortfall of 18 million health workers by 2030[1], primarily in low and middle-income countries. Catering to a growing demand for healthcare workers in Sri Lanka and providing opportunities for overseas career pathways, the new Campus aims to address the gaps offering high-quality education and training to these aspiring healthcare professionals.

The new main campus boasts cutting-edge facilities designed to provide an optimal learning environment such as a fully equipped skills labs, recognised as among the best nursing skill labs in the country, modern lecture halls and auditoriums, a comprehensive library, access to an advanced learner management system.

In addition, AAHS is looking to expand its programs to include non-healthcare-related programs, broadening the scope of its high-quality, diverse education.”

AAHS offers a comprehensive programs and unparalleled clinical exposure catering to students at various educational levels, from O/Levels and A/Levels up to degree level. Students can enrol in programs for Nursing, Caregiving, Phlebotomy, Medical Laboratory Technology and Pharmacy. The curriculum is structured to provide a balance of theoretical and practical learning, with students typically spending three days at the academy and two days in the hospital.

A key advantage of studying at the Asiri Academy is the unrivalled clinical exposure students receive. With Asiri Health operating six hospitals and a total of 800 beds across the country, students benefit from extensive hands-on experience. In addition, Asiri Health is set to open the Port City Asiri Health Hospital in 2027, further expanding opportunities for students and healthcare professionals.

While the new Colombo campus will serve as the main hub, AAHS will continue to operate its centers in Kandy and Galle, ensuring accessibility to quality healthcare education across Sri Lanka.

Notably, AAHS will be hosting an Open Day in the first week of December 2024, providing an opportunity for prospective students to explore the new facilities and learn more about the programs offered.
