
Arpona Rani Rajbongshi has won the Best Playwright award at the Bangladesh Entertainment Journalists Association (Babisas) Awards 2023-2024. The prestigious award was presented to her on Saturday, February 22, at a grand event held at the Bangladesh Film Development Corporation. She was recognized for her outstanding contribution to the field of drama.
During the event, the award was handed over to Arpona Rani Rajbongshi by the chief guest, legendary actress Anwara Begum. The special guest was ATN Bangla’s broadcasting and program advisor, Tashik Ahmed, and the event was presided over by Abul Hossain Mojumder.
In response to receiving the honor, Arpona Rani Rajbongshi shared, “This award is very important for a playwright. A playwright creates characters from their imagination, and these characters are brought to life by the directors and artists. I am grateful to everyone involved for this recognition in this category.”
The Babisas Awards also honored various individuals in other categories. Legendary film personalities Anwara Begum, Ashraf Uddin Ahmed Ujjal, and Ferdous Ara were presented with the Lifetime Achievement Award. Special recognition was given to film personalities Rozina, Rubel, and Tashik Ahmed. Other winners included D.A. Taieb, Mamun Hasan Imon, Nirab Hossain, Joy Chowdhury, Siam Ahmed, Shiba Sanu, Rashed Mamun Apu, Khaled Hossain Chowdhury, Mohammad Fahad, Golam Kibria Tanveer, Romana Islam Mukti, Shabnam Bubly, Shabnam Parveen, Arpana Rani Rajbanshi, and Babi Haque.
In the music category, individuals who made significant contributions were honored, including artists Monir Khan, Robi Chowdhury, Ithun Babu, Baby Nazneen, Dolly Shainthani, and Tasiba Begum.
