The Annual Meeting of Member States of South East Asia Regulatory Network was held at Hotel Intercontinental in Dhaka on 03 July 2024 Wednesday. The Southeast Asia Regulatory Network (SEARN) is a voluntary organization comprising national regulatory authorities from countries in the Southeast Asia region.
The speech of the chief guest at the event was the Minister of Health and Family Welfare. Samant Lal Sen said, It is an honor for me to address the gathering of South East Asia Regulatory Network. This gathering of Member States has created a valuable opportunity for us to come together to exchange experiences and strengthen drug abuse control in our region. As we all know, ensuring the safety, efficacy and quality of medicines is paramount to protecting the health of our people. Common challenges we face in this effort include the continued risk of substandard and adulterated medicines, the rise of antimicrobial resistance and regulatory capacity across our diverse healthcare systems. The need to increase and adjust the quality of healthcare.
Working together through the South East Asia Regulatory Network, we can leverage our collective expertise, resources and best practices to effectively address these challenges,” the Health Minister said in his speech. Through information sharing, capacity-building initiatives and mutual assistance, we can improve our regulatory systems and strengthen our ability to monitor and respond to emerging threats to healthcare.
Dr. Rokeya Sultana, State Minister of Health and Family Welfare Ministry, Secretary of Health Services Department Md. Jahangir Alam, Additional Director General of Health Department Dr. Ahmedul Kabir were present in the event.
Among the member countries of South East Asia Regulatory Network, representatives and observers from Bangladesh, Bhutan, India, Indonesia, Maldives, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Thailand and Timor-Leste participated in the meeting
