For all tech enthusiasts and smartphone savvy people, finding out how to make the most of one’s device no doubt is an interesting aspect, especially if you have on you one of the latest and most revered smartphone brands out there. The Huawei Y9 and the Huawei Y7 Pro have already garnered immense popularity ever since these smartphones were introduced to the global market. The same goes with Sri Lankan smartphone enthusiasts.

Both devices run on Android 8 Oreo and boast of some cool software additions. The tips also apply to Huawei Nova 2i as well. So read on to find out more about what these devices have discreetly hidden in terms of shortcuts and tips and learn how to make the most of these Huawei devices.

1st feature – From amongst the interesting tips that all three devices encompass, is the Scrolling Screenshot. Grabbing a screenshot is pretty much an easy move. So, giving this one a try would be effortless. In this device, to take a screenshot, simple hold down on the volume down button and the power button both at the same time, and the screen simply takes a shot of itself.

Or, you can simply drag down the notification shade and just click on the screenshot option and this would do the same thing for you. Of course, with the first option you can see the shot taking place and you can look at the screen and your desired shot. However, both these play the same role.

This is of course common for taking a shot of a page which cannot be scrolled. However, say that you are checking out a page on your search engine and have opted for this particular article or a browser window from Google for example. Now, that would pose as a pretty long page while you scroll all the way down. So, simply follow the first option and when the shot prepares itself, you will notice a few options at the bottom of the screen.

Click on the Scroll Screenshot option and there you go! The device will automatically scroll and capture the entire page for you. Once the device completes doing this, it will integrate all the shots and present you with the full page/scrolling screenshot for your viewing later. You will also notice options for either sharing the shot or editing and cropping the shot according to your preference. The editing option is abundant with inlaid characters such as erasing or blurring, where you can manipulate the shot any way you like. The scrolling screenshot is definitely one to look out for.

2nd feature– The next feature is the Navigation Dock.In order to select this option, simply drag down the notification shade and select the Navigation Dock option. Once enabled, you will notice a small white bubble-like dot on the side of your home screen. Clicking on it will showcase an array of navigation functions. This is pretty straightforward, and describes what each bubble hold would do. Simply, touching the navigation bubble will take you back to your previous page, releasing after touching and holding it will take you to the home screen, or hold and slide it to get to the overview or multitasking option or you can drag the bubble around to change position. If you are used to this option then you can hide the navigation shade which is indicated underneath these options.

3rd feature – The next tip is about the Screen recording feature. Once again, drag down the notification shade on your smartphone and choose the option for the screen recording which you will easily notice on the bar. Click on it and a notification asking for you to allow it, will appear on the screen. As straightforward as it can be, once again click on it to allow it to record. In this option you will be shown a comprehensive step by step guide on how to go by doing this. The recording more or less accounts for what you would have been doing with your smartphone and records your activity throughout until you want to stop it at the top left corner of the screen. This will be saved in your gallery and you can easily access it from there.

4th feature – This next one is a feature from Android 8 Oreo. On your home screen, if click and hold on any of the icons, a number of options will pop up indicating 3D touchable actions for most of these applications. For example, if you press and hold on the Google Chrome icon, you will be able to open a new tab or an incognito window without the need to open the app itself. If you touch and hold the YouTube icon, you will be able to directly go for the site’s search window. So this is more or less another shortcut option which is interesting to use. The same goes with the rest of your apps, which will showcase a variety of fast pace options, depending on each of their functionalities.

5th feature – The next feature is the App Lock feature. When you drag down the notification shade and click on Settings, go down and click on the Security and Privacy option and then select App Lock. Then initiate a password and select a security question, which is somewhat the standard process when it comes to enabling security in a device or email for example, and confirm. For the Y9 device, which comes with the fingerprint sensor option, you can opt to go with that instead of having to enter a password, so it pretty much depends on the device you are using. So, under your App Lock option, you can manipulate and enable the app lock on your preferred applications, and this means that only you can use whatever app you need by entering the password or unlocking it with your fingerprint, in case your smartphone isn’t with you all of a sudden. This would ensure that nobody else would meddle with your apps when you’re not around.

Huawei is no doubt an ever-evolving smartphone brand and continues to introduce ways to help users to not simply find ways to make the best use of their devices but to also make it more fun to play with. Try out these tips on all three devices and check out the array of discreet options that come with it.
